Sneak peek: Exklusiv für NZZ Art hat Ester Vonplon eine vierteilige Fotoedition mit Blumensujets produziert, die auf Arbeiten aus der aktuellen Ausstellung «Flügelschlag» im @foto_museum basiert. Teil der Motive sind dort bereits in anderen Formaten zu sehen; für die Edition greift die Künstlerin diese Bilder nochmals auf und überführt sie in eine eigenständige Serie. Dabei wird besonders deutlich, wie sehr Vonplons Arbeiten vom Prozesshaften leben: Die Blumen sind keine klassische Stillleben, sondern als Spuren von Licht, Zeit und materieller Veränderung zu verstehen, die sich ganz im Sinne ihrer Fotogramme zwischen Gegenstand und Auflösung bewegen. ‘I don’t think there’s really any such thing as silence in nature. Nature is noisy. Be it on a glacier, in the forest or anywhere outdoors – nature is constantly in motion. Trees, animals, insects, babbling brooks, calving glaciers, wind, rain…’ – Ester Vonplon ⏳ In her work I See Darkness, @estervonplon explores time, light and the subtle impact of environmental conditions by working directly with photosensitive paper. 🌞 During the Covid pandemic, she transformed an abandoned tunnel in the Safien Valley in Grisons into her darkroom. Over days, weeks or even months, she placed large-format photographic paper on the ground, allowing chemicals, sparse light and changing climatic conditions to interact. The resulting works are shaped by chance and a deliberate loss of control. Fragile encounters with nature 🪽 Ester Vonplon’s work Wingbeat brings together fragile traces of plants, fungi, stones and other elements encountered during her walks through remote Swiss Alpine landscapes. On her hikes, she lays out more than 100-year-old Cellofix paper to capture delicate encounters with nature using photograms. 🌿 Inspired by the botanists of the 19th century, @estervonplon gathers visual traces of the landscapes she explores. Her photograms are not scientific documents but open reflections. Für die Werkgruppe «il uaul» (2022–2024) erforschte die Künstlerin einen der letzten Urwälder der Schweiz – zu Fuss und mit einer aufwendig zu bedienenden Grossbildkamera.
