THIS THURSDAY we are redefining the art walk gallery opening @babayagaseattle . It’s hard to put into words how much is going down in one night and how special this night is to me. I WANT TO SEE YOU THERE. But heres a try: Every inch of both floors will be activated with art and music. @travistrautt is presenting his biggest ever gallery of photography work, including colossal 4x6 FOOT prints of high energy concert shots in the downstairs venue and never before seen behind the scenes shots upstairs and on the video wall.. Free and all ages from 5-9pm we have 3 DJs (@tonamolinazubia , @_bellatown_ , @aleeens ) and 2 never before heard avant-garde synth noise sets from @j_spinx of @monsterwatch and @_xo__sky__xo_ of @zookraught . THEN, just $10, 9pm-2am an entire afterparty show with @hateknife , @semisoftband , @zookraught , and @cdigi_ DJ set until late. Themed flash tattoos from @nicohoney_tattoos all night. I’ve had a mission to establish Baba Yaga as the spot for Pioneer Square Art Walk afters. The art community in this neighborhood has inspired me for years, but I’ve always felt like every month there needs to be somewhere people can gather and connect and celebrate art after 9pm. I also hope the art we present can be a reflection of our community, and it makes perfect sense to tap into to our photography scene in Seattle. The next several months we are giving these artists the space to present their work in the physical realm, pairing galleries with live music that is a direct representation of the very same scene. I am SO excited to kick off these next few months of art and music showcasing the Seattle music ecosystem. I WANT TO SEE YOU THERE. Old homies, new followers of this page- Thursday Feb 6th is everything to me and the team bringing independent music and art to Seattle. 🫶🏼

2024 all selfies cause I guess imma selfie fiend: 1: exploring the esemplastic selfie portal. The four of these sculptures I built for @exp.festival now live full time @onthehiyu 2:That feeling when you and @thegrizzledmighty and the rest of the amazing @babayagaseattle team launched the main venue 3: I also built this series of golden mirror pillars that add fun depth and interactivity to @onthehiyu 4: Fit check headed to the first @vividpresents event I designed lighting for, a masquerade at @bellevueartsmuseum 5: I made it to one day of @libfestival after my brothers bachelor party in joshua tree. I picked up a huge carton of fresh strawberries and made so many beautiful friends just dishing them out on my way into the fest. 10/10 place to experience life, hoping to bring some light sculptures there this year. 6: figuring out the geometry going from 2d to 3d on the massive tree sculpture i built @babayagaseattle - classic case of saying “yeah i can build that” follow by “how the fuck am i gonna build that” in my head. Then just making shit up and watching youtube videos until i figure it out. In love with this process. 7: @vvarrenmusic got his pilots license and we are proud of him and want to go on more plane rides :) some extra random me

An overdue Baba Yaga post @babayagaseattle ✨ 14 months ago I met up with @thegrizzledmighty at 124 South Washington Street to see what he was up to in Pioneer Square. We shared a vision of lighting design and event production for a space completely different than anything else in Seattle. 3 months ago we opened the upstairs of Baba Yaga. In November we launched the main venue downstairs. This post highlights the 40 custom orb lights I designed that float throughout the levels and nooks of the 70’s cabin inspired upstairs. If you want to have a piece of Baba Yaga in your home, these orbs are available for custom order in sizes from 10-18 inch diameter, dm for details:) 1: An inviting scene of natural materials and psychedelic color awaits as you enter Baba Yaga. Each group of orb lights was hung at various complimentary heights over each area of the room to create a unified feeling of warmth. 2: Each orb is hand painted with 8 different colors and about 30 different layers to create the right level of transparency and color gradient. 3: A clip from opening night at Baba Yaga. A surreal experience to transition from design/ construction zone to functioning bar full of people. 4: Me installing the last orb !! 5: Night-wave vibes in Baba Yaga. I also installed all of the custom LED accent lighting for the stairs, booth nook, and back of the bar. 6: Testing the first round of orbs in my workshop aka @oracle.lounge . The feeling when the idea turns out even better than expected✨ 7: Every orb is connected via smart bulb to fine tune the color tones and transform the space for events. The effect this has on the vibrant paint designs in the bar is a saucy bonus.

I was commissioned by @vividpresents to create a set of light sculptures for @exp.festival this August. So, Lava Lamps I - IV were born. This design had been brewing in my mad scientist basement for a while. A key goal was to incorporate mirror into this style of sculpture to enhance interactivity and depth. What a great event! So rewarding to bring interactive art and music into the heart of downtown Seattle. A whole lot has been happening in the world of esemplastic.
