Love an unorthodox venue for showing some art and had the opportunity to do this suggestive still-life for the 2026 American Urological Association (AUA) Conference in D.C. @amerurological Happening this weekend. May 15-18. @Gitlerand Gallery Booth 855 brings together over 60 artists whose work explores urology, its connection to art, and its associations: medicine, health, science, self-care and the body. Check out the gallery or AUA site for details. An added note via @gitlerand : We’re proud and excited to partner with @amerurological for their first ever [themed] contemporary art installation. As a matter of a fact, this maaaay be the first ever curated contemporary art installation at any medical association convention ever. If we’re wrong, let us know please… Still time for the perfect father’s day gift!

2 1/2 years ago I started my journey in the AIP program for the US Mint. I was honored to have one of my designs sculpted as the face of the 2026 dime- replacing Franklin D. Roosevelt for the first time in 80 years.  It’s of an American Revolution era inspired Liberty in a Phrygian cap to commemorate 250 years of the American experiment. The theme “Liberty over tyranny”, is a call to action, when diplomacy was no longer an option over British taxes and military presence over the colonies, the people had to take up arms for its independence from King George.  Now 250 years later, I am thankful to have been brought up in this beautiful cultural melting pot and it feels surreal to know that in the future when we are all long gone, this modern relic will remain as a small piece of another historic inflection point in our nations timeline. . . Established in 2003, the Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) contracts talented, professional American artists who represent diverse backgrounds and a variety of interests. These artists work with Mint staff to create and submit new designs for coins and medals.  Thanks to the @unitedstatesmint , Craig Campbell’s incredible sculpt. To @joemenna_sculptor for art direction and edits that to made it the best it could be. To  Erik Custer for the classic eagle design on the reverse. And special thanks to Paul @workhardened for connecting me to the US Mint folks and also the CCAC and CFA committees whose passion and time dedicated to selecting designs that shape how we honor people and events of our past . . . Thanks for reading.

Been liking this new green on my palette. Here’s a painting with a take on Sagittarius and “toxon” (the Greek word for archery and origin of the word toxic) in mind. Oil on a wood composite panel. 12”x12”

Another magical milestone with my @clarebarexo today. Saw Kiki’s Delivery Service in IMAX went to Yamashiro for the first time, then saw some stand up. It was in the 90s today and we bought hot sauce. LOVE

Painted this still life for ‘Music for Morgues’ by local legend friend @burtmurder and it’s one of 40 albums available over at Bandcamp. This one is super ambient. Stay in and focus on something. It’s all free.

Everyone I know knows the seriousness of what’s happening and I hope you do too. I initially drew this up last year for a pro-union rally that ended up not happening. Feels appropriate now about everything. Solidarity and love to my midwestern friends. I’m angry and worried too. We deserve better 💔

Each year, much of the integrity and success of our art show rests in the hands of those chosen to jury it. Please meet our third juror, Esao Andrews. b. 1978. Esao Andrews is a Japanese-American artist who grew up in Mesa, Arizona and received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC in 2000 to peruse a life of art-making, both in  fine-art and illustration.  Outside of gallery exhibitions of surreal oil paintings, his commercial work ranges from DC Comics, The United States Mint, Deathwish and Baker Skateboards, but he is most well know for his many album designs for the indie band Circa Survive.  Other work can be seen in murals around the globe including the massive butterfly and rose garden design that wraps through the lobby of the Long Beach Convention Center in California. Esao currently lives and works in Ancram, New York with his beautiful wife Clare. /esao Quality jurors ensure that every application is evaluated with fairness, insight, and genuine appreciation for artistic expression. Each year, we select a new panel of individuals with broad, well-rounded knowledge who understand different mediums, styles, and creative voices. Their expertise helps elevate the show, celebrate exceptional work, and honors the talent of our participating artists.
