I’m equal parts shocked & extremely flattered. Yesterday I saw that @xonecole came out with a list of 100 “It Girls.” I loved the concept, commented on the post, sent a few congrats messages and made a mental note to go back and check out allllll 100 when I had time. I couldn’t wait to dive deep and get inspired - I love these kind of things 💕 But to find out I was ON the list? Featured in the Business category. For my @vineyard_icon work from just a few months ago. Positioned between @emmagrede & @jackieaina - two LITERAL ICONS who I deeply admire. AND many other incredible women. Wow! I know things always look “pretty” online, but life is far from perfect - and like anything, comes with its ups and downs so this is truly an honor. Thank you so very much @xonecole for featuring me in your 2025 It Girl List for my work with @vineyard_icon . And congrats to the other 99 - I am in great company and hope to meet all those I don’t know one day! P.S. I had just texted a friend the other week saying I wanted to slide into @emmagrede ’s DM’s (I don’t know her personally) and pitch doing a @vineyard_icon event with her to promote her new book coming out. Does this make me one step closer?!

Valentine’s Day has always been an interesting holiday for me. We laid my dad to rest on the Vineyard. And on February 14th, we packed out @howard1867 Cramton Auditorium for his funeral. That day wasn’t about reservations & roses. It was about the legacy of Dr. Al Goldson. I listened to stories from patients he healed and friends who knew him long before the titles. What I learned is that love is a responsibility. It’s what you leave behind. My dad never got to see me off to college. But I hope his spirit can live on through students in need through the @vineyard_icon Scholarship, in partnership with @thecolorvision . During my holiday break, I set out to fund $10K in scholarships. Because of this community, we’ve doubled that to $20K through the Vineyard ICON Foundation. To everyone who donated, shared, encouraged, or simply believed in this idea before it was fully formed, thank you ✨ There’s no corporate match yet. One day, I hope there is. I have a goal of six figures in scholarships in the future. Link in bio to apply, join the Founders Circle, or learn more about @vineyard_icon . How are you spreading love today? 🤍 P.S. It would be cool if a Howard student was one of the recipients of this scholarship one day given the overlap!

I’m in LA headed to shoot a commercial with an @nfl legend and I am currently speechless. Never in a million years did I expect a dedicated @forbes article, written by @dougmelville , about the @vineyard_icon awards, complete with quotes from #GayleKing on why it was a must attend event. I started @vineyard_icon as a weekend passion project to give back to a place that has shaped me, to honor the legacy of those who came before me, and to pour into the next generation of icons. It was created with one goal at heart, to make my late father proud. I put my personal savings into this vision, hoping to raise money for the newly formed @vineyard_icon Foundation and celebrate those who inspire me. I am figuring it out as I go, as a passionate one person team with no agency support, just a deep love for a place I call home. My weekends look different now, but my heart is so full. This idea was placed on my heart, and now I know exactly what it feels like when passion meets purpose. I did this because I wanted to create what I felt was missing, and I am so moved that it has resonated so widely. Next for @vineyard_icon is learning grant writing and connecting with donors and philanthropists to bring the Vineyard Icon Next Gen Summit to life next summer, a pipeline for future icons. If this is your world or would like to collaborate, I would love to hear from you at [email protected]. Link in bio to donate to the Vineyard Icon Foundation. WE’RE IN FORBES YALL! đź–¤ (& i say we because it truly takes a village) #VineyardIcon #MarthasVineyard #Forbes #ForbesBLk #OakBluffs Thank you to: @lamer , @crownroyal , @mckinseyco , @feastandfettle , @serwaddagroup , @bserwadda , @colgateuniversity , @endlessflair , @dez.collective , @sydneysmithdesign , @petalandvineflorals @ashleyseanthomas & so many more!

another trip around the sun ✨ the year I finally let the voice inside of me be louder than the voices around me. sometimes you have to get quiet enough to hear yourself over everyone else. because no one knows what lights you up like you do. No one knows what truly makes you happy, what you’re moving toward, or that larger vision you have for yourself. Self trust and self belief were the best gifts I gave myself this past year. Still very much working on it, but when I get it right, it’s the gift that keeps on giving.

This past December, I co-hosted a holiday soirée for 60 women in LA with @akilahreleford called Lucky and Iconic, inspired by both our brands. In the process, I met @carmtrip , who has spent 20+ years at @stjude . What started as a conversation about synergies between her work and @vineyard_icon turned into St. Jude becoming the charitable partner for our event. That relationship led to me, @akilahreleford , @ashleycmeverett , and @vnicagraves joining @stjude for their Legacy of Hope Summit in Memphis. The event brought 50 influential female executives, founders, and community leaders together to hear from @stjude leadership, personal stories from patients who beat cancer & more. The work St. Jude is doing is remarkable. At a minimum, every patient receives treatment, meals, housing, and transportation at no cost. Thank you to the full staff at St. Jude for sharing your mission, your work, and the impact you are making in the fight against childhood cancer. 🤍

I love full circle moments 🤍 One of my first professional awards came from @thecolorvision in 2022 at their inaugural awards brunch. I was given the “She Got Next” award. The irony of that name was layered. I certainly didn’t see myself that way, but looking back, I see the power of others seeing something in you before you do. And while the award was for the work I had done with @dove and @unilever at the time, I had no idea I’d be “next” to create an award of my own. Since then, my relationship with @thecolorvision has deepened. They’ve had me speak three times at their annual conference. My first verbal sponsorship commitment for Vineyard Icon even came from someone I sat on a panel with (you know who you are 🤍). This summer @itsmiajdavis asked me to join their board. And most recently, the @vineyard_icon Scholarship in Partnership with Color Vision was born. I firmly believe that when women support each other and lead with a collaboration over competition mindset, the impact compounds. Thank you @itsmiajdavis for your quiet confidence, the incredible work you’ve done, and for bringing me along the way. The Vineyard Icon Scholarship in Partnership with Color Vision closes this Saturday, and I can’t wait to see how this grows with time. Link in bio...& swipe to see how it started versus how it’s going, from 2022 to 2026! ✨

There are certain family stories I’ve heard so many times, with such detail, that even though I was too young to actually remember the moment… I recall it like I do. One of them is about the first time I was a flower girl. It was the “wedding of the season.” The Dellums wedding. @revjjackson was officiating and this was supposed to be my debut moment. …but instead, halfway down the aisle, I froze. The story goes that my Dad got up from his seat, crouched down to my level, and gently walked me the rest of the way. He took his newly appointed role very seriously, grabbing petals from my basket and helping me toss them. For a long time after he passed, I would think about how I’ll never experience my dad walking me down the aisle at my wedding. But with time I’ve realized, in a bittersweet way, he already did. In what was probably my first public stage in life, I froze - right in front of the iconic @revjjackson . Without hesitation, my Dad hopped up, met me right where I was and walked me forward. That story has stayed with me. And as I’ve gotten older, I see even more significance in it for many reasons. One is that it reminds me how powerful storytelling is. The stories our families repeat shape how we see ourselves. They influence what safety feels like. What love looks like. And the bar we set for ourselves and others we let into our life. They form us, even if we don’t actually remember the moment ourselves. Rest in peace, Rev. Jesse Jackson. Thank you for your leadership, and for being a small part of a memory my family has carried for decades. What are the stories you hold onto, even if you don’t fully remember them? And what stories are you passing on?
