Last night with @nycmayor , @nyccouncil and @cmfranciscomoya (aka the first Ecuadorian-American elected to public office in the United States) and Ecuador’s Consul General in attendance, honored my contributions to the community of New York as an Ecuadorian-born leader in my field 🤝 🇪🇨 Mom always said “let your work do the talking, and make it be so good they can’t ignore you”. After a decade of being quiet and letting it speak for itself, it’s empowering to see the work - of which I gave my life to - be celebrated not only by @cmfranciscomoya & the city that I love, but by the key members who represent my country in the States. And all of this took place on my mom’s birthday, so it was extra special having her and dad by my side 💎 This year we’re finally collecting the fruit of our labor. Yes. It’s not just my fruit. It’s our fruit. One thing I’ve learned being a Latino immigrant is that we are born givers. But that gift is not just random. It’s passed down through our parents. My mom and dad have shared their life philosophy with us through words and actions, and I’m always honored to share it with those who listen. So here is a lesson comprised of many my mom gave my sisters and I when we were little; “You can do anything you set your mind to. We’ll one day die and realize we were all the same to begin with, so act accordingly. Be honest. Be respectful. Act with rectitude” Now go chase that vision of yours.
