Alligator Alcatraz will be funded largely by FEMA’s Shelter and Services Program, which the Biden administration used as a piggy bank to spend hundreds of millions of American taxpayer dollars to house illegal aliens, including at the Roosevelt Hotel that served as a Tren de Aragua base of operations and was used to shelter Laken Riley’s killer.
Before this program was used to house criminal illegal aliens. Now, it is being used to detain criminal illegal aliens while they await deportation.
100 days ago, I took an oath to serve this country as Secretary of Homeland Security. I will continue fighting every day alongside President Donald Trump to secure our border and keep American communities safe. This is just the beginning of the Golden Age of America.

It was an incredible privilege to travel to Costa Rica last week for the inauguration of President Laura Fernandez Delgado! We are excited about her strong leadership and grateful for past cooperation with President Chaves. Costa Rica is a great partner in the Shield of the Americas coalition of countries in the western hemisphere that are focused on secure borders, fighting cartels, stopping drug trafficking, and economic prosperity.
Thank you @potus Trump for appointing me as the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. @secrubio and @secwar are incredible leaders and I look forward to working with them closely to dismantle cartels that have poured drugs into our nation and killed our children and grandchildren.
The Western Hemisphere is absolutely critical for U.S. security. In this new role, I will be able to build on the partnerships and national security expertise, I forged over the last 13 months as Secretary of Homeland Security.
We have made historic accomplishments at the Department of Homeland Security to make America safe again: we delivered the MOST secure border in American history, 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S., we have located 145,000 children, FEMA delivered disaster relief at a 100% faster rate, we ushered in the golden age of travel, saved the American taxpayer $13 billion and revitalized the U.S. Coast Guard.
Today, I had the privilege of joining the Western States Sheriff’s Association in Reno, NV. I am confident that increased cooperation among ICE, DHS, and local law enforcement will help accomplish what the American people voted for under President Trump — safer communities and restored law and order.
We have accomplished so much in the last year, including a 125-year low in our murder rate, and with the support of state and local law enforcement leaders, the next three years will be even better.

Today marks the Department of Homeland Security’s 23rd anniversary. Less than two years after the devastating attacks of September 11, 2001, DHS was established. Since then, DHS has stood at the helm of our country’s national security, protecting the American people and our homeland.
I am especially grateful to those of you who are serving during the current shutdown without a paycheck, and I thank you for your continued service and sacrifice to our nation.
As threats evolve, DHS is there. By air, land, sea, or cyberspace, the DHS workforce boldly confronts national threats every day. The work of DHS is not always visible, but we are working diligently to prevent cybersecurity and terrorism threats, safeguard the southern border, reform our broken immigration system, and help Americans in the wake of natural disasters.
I would also like to honor the colleagues we have lost over the last 23 years in the line of duty. Their service and memory strengthen our resolve.
Together, we will ensure that the United States remains a beacon of freedom, safety, and security for generations to come.

Democrats in Congress have chosen to not fund @dhsgov , which means that all of our TSA workers who showed up today are not getting paid.
The men and women of TSA work hard to make sure you and your loved ones can fly safely. This political theater is only making it hard on them and their families.
