Ensemble 642 in Italy!🇮🇹🎉 We are delighted to share this news of our upcoming performance at one of the most iconic international festivals of early music: Urbino Musica Antica @urbinomusicaantica 🤩🤩 On 21 July we'll be joined by our dear friend, the incredible tenor Jacob Lawrence @jacobalawrence , for a concert in the 15th-century Palazzo Ducale of the magical city of Urbino. ⚜️ Thank you to the Fondazione Italiana per la Musica Antica (FIMA) and Artistic Director Alessandro Quarta @q.alessandro for this beautiful invitation, we are beyond honoured and so excited! There’s a particular kind of music that feels like it’s turning slowly in space…this week’s moon has felt like that. Our next duo concert is this weekend 🌙 and we’ve been working on a new arrangement of a remarkable work by Dieterich Buxtehude, mysterious, cyclical and quietly powerful. A piece often associated with lunar phases and deep, shifting patterns. If you don’t know Buxtehude, perhaps this tells you something: in 1705, a 20-year-old Johann Sebastian Bach set out on foot and walked over 400 kilometres to hear him play.
