2025년 한국 예술경영지원센터 의 지원으로 홍콩 아트아시아퍼스픽이 출판한 Contingent Worlds: Korean Artists Today 에 박민하 @min.ha.park 작가의 비평글 <Square: A Living Chronicle of Affect>이 수록되었다. 영문으로만 출판되고 시중에서 볼 수 없는 책이라, 아쉬운 마음에 국문 일부를 공유한다. —- 시간, 기억, 감각의 층위를 통과하는 박민하의 스퀘어는 아무것도 아닌 것을 전부인 것으로 만드는 장소가 된다. 제약 없는 선택지를 향해 끝없이 자신을 소진하는 사각형들, 오류, 실수, 넘침, 번짐 속에 미끄러지는 경계에서 발생하는 작은 기호들, 채색된 공간을 폐기하고 색채의 평면 너머의 무한대로 이동하는 소실점, 망각이라는 무한함 속에 임박해오는 기억이라는 찰나와 같은 익명의 한계들, 그 사이에서 일어나는 정동은 사랑스럽고 신비롭기까지 하다. (부분) Passing through the layered dimensions of time, memory, and sensation, Min ha Park’s square may be understood as a site where nothing becomes everything. Rectangles that exhaust themselves in the face of limitless options drift toward dissolution. From the blurred edges born of error, overflow, and misalignment, small symbols emerge—, quiet markers of affect formed at the threshold of where boundaries slip. The painted surface is abandoned, giving way to a vanishing point that extends toward infinity beyond color itself. Within the boundlessness of forgetting, fleeting memories draw near as temporal thresholds, forming anonymous limits that shimmer and recede. The affect that arises in this space is almost wondrous wonderful in its tenderness. Don’t miss it. —- Patricia Fernández: A constellation of its other 3월 20일(금) – 5월 2일(토) 세 개의 층으로 나뉜 작은 목조 집 - Retreat/retiro(2026) -에는 더 작은 사물들 - 아버지의 아몬드 농장에서 주워 온 껍질로 만든 책, 콩과 천 조각으로 만든 작은 너트 베이비(nut babies), 유리 조각, 동물의 뼈, 요람, 소꿉 장난 -이 고대 스페인 건축물에서 전통 문양 X의 보호를 받으며 층층이 놓인다. (…) 우리는 이 작은 사물들을 보기 위해 몸을 더 낮게 낮추고 작게 웅크릴 수밖에 없다. 이러한 행위를 통해 어느새 우리는 꿈의 통로로 진입하게 된다. 스스로를 작게 만듦으로써 더 큰 세상이 보이는 경이로움 속에서, (역설적이게도) 우리는 거대한 사랑을 품고 언제든 터질 준비가 된 작은 배아로 돌아간다. 기억이 한때 살았던 그리고 앞으로 살아나갈 미지의 시간을 향해 천천히 항해하며, 우리는 가장 포근한 자기만의 거소(居所)를 찾게 된다. Within a small wooden house divided into three levels (Retreat/retiro, 2026), smaller objects are arranged in layers: a book made from shells gathered from her father’s almond orchard, small nut babies fashioned from beans and scraps of cloth, glass fragments, animal bones, cradles, and children’s playthings. These layers are carefully placed under the protection of an X-shaped motif found in ancient Spanish architecture. (…) To see these small objects, we cannot help but lower our bodies further and crouch down. Through this act, we find ourselves entering the passageways of our own dreams. By making ourselves smaller, we encounter the wonder of a larger world coming into view, and paradoxically, we return to being small embryos, holding immense love and ready to burst at any moment. As memory sails slowly toward an unknown time that once lived and will live again, we come to find the most comforting place of our own.

불턱과 진, 도끼다시와 현무암, 요이와 신애, 제주와 코펜하겐, 그리고 당근의 환대~ 🪨🥕🐟🥒 어떤 단일함으로는 설명되지 않는 것들이 있다. 그렇다고 그 복잡함을 애써 설명하지 않는 신중함 속에, 우리는 봉합을 원하지 않는 내면의 표식을 듣는다.

풍요로웠던 2025년과 다가오는 2026년 사이, 윗집에서 받은 달력 선물과 함께 지난 며칠을 돌아봅니다. 마지막 순간에 챙긴 루이즈 부르주와의 전시, 제주 공항에서 건내받은 늙은 호박으로 동료들과의 저녁 식사와 놀라운 제주의 귤맛, 영하 10도를 뚫고 떠난 가족 여행. 결국 소중한 새해 첫 순간은 감기로 놓쳤지만, 몸 구석구석 빗질로 새해를 맞이해봅니다. 새해 복 많이 받으세요. 2025.01.03
