Here’s a picture of Ben with Ryan Deffet: Audio wizard, proprietor of @spacegators and Faux Furrs, festival host, and master of all things local music. Last winter, we asked Ryan for some advice on our new record. In response, he offered to mix the whole thing himself. Over the course of 2023, he took on this project with extreme care, even as he recorded and mixed his own Space Gator’s record. Ryan is no longer with us to see this record released, but we want to express how deeply appreciative we are for his talent, generosity and friendship. We miss and love you dearly Ryan. No one will fill the hole your absence has left in our hearts.
BACK FROM BANDEMIC isolation, and hot from the crockpot, we are feeling blessed and quite thrilled to share our first release in almost 3 years, and our first full length LP since 2017.
As many of us will tell our grandkids, we spent the pandemic tinkering with new gear and redefining, then redefining again, what type of music we wanted to make. In this semi-euphoric basement haze, we totally forgot the urgency we once felt to book tours and post selfies. It’s been liberating and also a bit strange. Especially now, dusting off the socials, and realizing we aren’t quite “up-and-comers” anymore.
What finally got this record into fruition was the talent and generosity of our comrade Ryan Deffet, who spent many months deep in the weeds, mixing and remixing, making this record larger than life. (Miss and love you more than you could know brother)
