Back on the radio today with my own show on @skylab_radio !
Full Bag with Empty DJ will be on at from 12pm - I’m bringing a bunch of bits that are always in my bag for the first ep.
Tune in online or come down and say whats up at @highnote_____ !
This month’s featured artist is @empty.deejay 🎶
His top record pick? Nat I Århus (test pressing) from Danish label Regelbau. A super personal one for him, shaped by time spent in Århus and the community there. The hand drawn sleeve by friends makes it even more special, bringing back long days in the June sun and the spirit of the 8000.
The standout track? Hard to choose when every cut hits, but “Sunrise Sunset” stands out, a collaboration from the whole Regelbau crew. It really captures that Århus house feeling. Feels like a full dancefloor and a big smile moment.
As a record collector, radio presenter, and DJ, Empty DJ also runs an archival blog focused on uploading records that are not online. He is drawn to overlooked and hard to find releases, often digging through record shops or deep on Discogs. It all started with Chicago records on labels like Trax and Dance Mania, worn recycled vinyl cuts that still carry a strong piece of dancefloor history.
My radio broadcast for @vitamine.fm finally airs on @noodsradio this weekend!
I took this opportunity to buy a heap of stuff released in so-called Australia, plenty of which I have already uploaded on YT (including one more if I can revive my laptop 🫠), but here are some of the other new bits I used that were already online.
Big thanks to the Vitamine guys for inviting me to contribute!
You can listen live on at 9am AEST (10pm GMT) on Saturday or on Soundcloud after broadcast.
This mix was recorded on Wurundjeri Country using music that was released on stolen land. Australia always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
#blessed #stoked #proud to present the 4th episode of Full Bag with Empty DJ on @skylab_radio tomorrow❗️bring lots of new old bits and some new new bits to soundtrack your friyay afternoon 🤝 see u in the chat
Stoked to present to you guys my mix for the incredible @spacedensemble crew!
A collection of a bunch of the records I have been playing at home, on radio and at bars. It’s feels really lovely to be given the trust and freedom by Space’d to be able to put it all together for 120 odd minutes.
There’s a bit of everything that I hold dear, a couple pictured here 😎
Hope you enjoy! #music
Moisture Rich Foundation - Moods (McCalls 'N' All Mix)
Last year I uploaded two tunes from a random compilation CD by Robert Goodge and Paul Main under the moniker Moisture Rich Foundation.
Today I've uploaded another mix of their track Moods, from an even stranger place. A compilation by DJ Andy Glitre from music retailer Sanity in 1999.
I really think that these Moisture Rich Foundation tracks are particularly notable deep house gems from the former Filthy Lucre members, and I spoke to Robert Goodge about the compilation and his productions with Paul Main before I uploaded this.
You can read more about the CD and what Robert told me at emptydj.com and the full rip is up on YT now.
Thanks for making this music @midnightandu@the_hangar_1979
Vertigo Hypo - Hypo Rhino (Tribal Nocturnal Rainforest Mix)
Fake animal noises and m1 flute solos up now on the channel via Frankston label Vicious Vinyl in 1992.
Big tip.
Just uploaded a trip-hop tune from this random compilation of Melbourne electronic music from 1992.
Comp includes a track by Ollie Olson and some of the music from the short-lived ABC TV show Raw FM, that was based of the efforts of Melbourne youth station Hitz FM.
I uploaded Vincent by Dr. Roopa on YT, have written a bit about the CD on and attached some photos of the CD here.
Hope you enjoy xx
S-Witch - Sensual Motion (The Sensual Re-Mix)
Another CD rip up on the YT this arvo. This time a deep extended mix from Sri Lankan Australian pop sensation Alston Koch, of Dark Tan and Koch & The Fremantle Doctor fame.
Big baratone "baby"s and NYC snare grooves! Check out full vid at
Up now on the channel are some 45 versions I picked up for under five bucks that I have been thrashing at gigs over the summer!
You never know when you might find something you will always have in the bag! Always sit on the floor - theres a bargain down there 💯
