I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about the June 2 mayoral primary and things aren’t black and white. We currently live under authoritarianism here in LA but everyone seems to think we are protected by the LA mythos.
I am voting for @raeforla for mayor and I believe if you are struggling right now in any capacity - financially, employment, mental health, with what is happening around us, everyone should vote for Rae. We have nothing to lose at this point. We are already occupied and living under authoritarianism in our supposed sanctuary city. That’s the system we are voting to keep in place with Bass, Raman or Pratt.
We need to take responsibility and ownership over our freedom and realize it will no longer be handed to us.
I want to say I’m not unaware of the dangers we live in. I’m acutely aware. I have no doubt the officials in LA are either being threatened by this administrations cartel or paid off by it.
That is why I hold our elected leaders to such a standard.
It’s a terrifying time. We cannot just go along and make nice with people who want to conquer the world. We need people who will stand up and say no, who will choose The People over corporate greed, over self interest.

Today, we gathered at Ledgewood Commons in Roxbury for the ICE Out Rally to celebrate a massive win. This week, we got everything we wanted out of the settlement agreement between New Jersey and DHS. That is a testament to the power of community organizing and YOUR voices! ✊️🗣🎉
But make no mistake: ICE has not been defeated. ❌️
They are already doubling down, looking for ways to convert these warehouses and exploiting every single loophole they can find in the states that filed suit. If we relax for a second, that’s when our representatives get lazy. We cannot let up. 💪

The Edmond Police Department approached a woman outside her residence asking for identification and her Oklahoma medical marijuana card. Her mother went inside to retrieve the requested identification before the situation escalated.
The woman was already restrained, yet force continued to be used while officers also drew Tasers on other people at the scene. Situations like this are why so many people continue questioning police use of force and de-escalation tactics.
This incident deserves further investigation, release of bodycam footage, and accountability for the officers involved.

As we all got home and started editing our photos, footage came through of another bombing by the occupation on a barely standing residential building said to contain Hamas chief Izz al-Din al-Haddad. 7 people were killed, including children… as if we haven’t seen enough babies blown up by USA funded airstrikes.
The Nakba never ended. Day after day we see this is true. It is our duty to fight for Palestinian freedom. To end colonialism. To give Landback to all indigenous people. It is our duty to because we truly have no other choice. We cannot afford apathy. And as we watch the faces of the people we pass who become enraged as we demand a free Palestine, we see what we are up against. I feel pity for them, to live in this cruel reality where people need to suffer for their comfort. That’s what makes us different… we are fighting for them too.
