It’s been a pleasure exhibiting at @kam alongside so many talented colleagues in the exhibition “Another Place: Storymaking the Entangled Prairie.” Many thanks to @terriweissman for curating the show, and @grifray for inviting me to connect with his fantastic project ”When the Landscape Recognizable Today Was Shaped.” Come see the show, up through July 2, and take home this offset print reproduced from a new stone lithograph. “Confluence” imagines wetlands of the future, as the waters return. I’ve loved all the updates and encounters with these in the wild, in all the places people have put them up. Keep ‘em coming.

What a joy to have @altheamurphyprice with us in the printmaking studio last week! Althea gave two screenprint workshops, studio visits with our grad students, and a fantastic lecture in @kamillinois . The good energy is still lingering.

Exhausted and happy after wrapping up two weeks in the mountains of NC at @penlandschool with this stellar group of artists. Workshop experiences like this were truly formative for me back in the day, and getting to still be part of this generous intensity from the other side of the student/instructor continuum is just so cool. I’m grateful to Penland’s scholars, fellows, and staff that keep this magical place humming, and to my awesome studio assistant @morganbakaletzart . Thanks for having me back, Penland!

I had the best week at Kansas City Art Institute as the visiting artist for their annual Road Roller event. Students brought so much energy and invention to the theme Underground, and made some killer work! And yes, our prints are designed to fit together into one giant piece– stay tuned. Huge thanks to @grabador12 , @bermanlaura , @lukebawl , and @someprintdude for inviting me and being such warm hosts, and to all the students who shared their time, their work, their printshop, and their extensive knowledge of Minecraft with me. See you all around in Printland 🖤

Multistory forest farming, habitat conservation, ecological webs, and carbon fixed in soils via deep perennial roots. Two more illustrations from this project. Big thanks to editors Liz Carlisle and Aubrey Streit Krug for trusting me to illustrate their forthcoming book of essays on the promise and possibilities of perennial foods, forthcoming from Island Press next year.

Two illustrations from a recent commission I really enjoyed doing. These will appear in a forthcoming book of essays on perennial foods, published by Island Press next year. Huge thanks to editors Liz Carlisle and Aubrey Streit Krug for inviting me to this project, and to all the wonderful contributors. These drawings attempt to conjure interconnected living systems pulsing through space and time, indigenous practices of land management and foodways, and imagined futures beyond the most damaging aspects of industrial agriculture.

SNAP is pleased to present Tactics featuring new work by Guen Montgomery and Emmy Lingscheit . The exhibition runs from March 8 – April 5, 2025 at SNAP Gallery. This exhibition centers the sense of touch– of textiles, of soil, of kin– and how these experiences anchor us to our bodies and to the broad world of fellow organisms whose fates are intertwined with ours. These works celebrate and struggle with the wonder and the strangeness of this condition. Please join us in person for the artist talk and opening reception for Tactics on Saturday, March 8. The talk will take place from 6-7, with reception following until 9. We are so excited to house this collaborative work for a short while, and we look forward to seeing you at the opening!! . . . An imperfect little carousel book I made alongside my class. Damn I love making. It’s an act of hope and a fantastic anxiety management strategy💡

During my last days in Newfoundland I learned that puffins fly(!), watched whales frolic offshore of the easternmost point of North America, and hiked til my legs were noodles. Grateful for friendly people, the coolest printshop, unreal landscapes, and this color palette. 🌈
