New drop on @futurefonts today! 🌈💡 Missive Bead is a grid-based typeface designed to distill legible display serif forms into a systematic language for beaded embroidery. The grid framework was designed to accommodate the proportions of a “bugle bead”, a type of embroidery bead that is longer than it is wide. The grid is composed of a horizontal, vertical, and 15-degree diagonal. The inclusion of the diagonal axis allows the natural flow of Missive Serif (Missive Bead’s companion style), to remain present in the structure of the beaded version. This was an incredibly fun system to develop as I started my amateur beading practice last year. Beading has been a great way to reduce my screen time while still exercising creative play and exploration with typography. New (and first!) release on @futurefonts today! Missive Serif 💌 was a project that began last year, initially as a revival, and then evolved to be the experimental playground for my typographic beaded embroidery. Usually, what I created in my beaded embroidery were loving affirmations — phrases, words, or statements relating to love. To reflect those sentiments, Missive Serif is big, dramatic, gooey, and charming. Much like being in love! Releasing a V0.1 version of a typeface is new to me. There is something challenging and vulnerable about sharing work with the world that isn’t finished yet. Feedback is more than welcome for those trying out the beta versions! Missive Serif’s companion style, Missive Bead, is also coming to Future Fonts on April 21. I’ve been aiming to channel the whimsical, vaguely-Parisian whispers of the early 2000s “shoe diva” aesthetic into a typeface. The result is this deeply unserious and decently ugly single style font seen here 🛍️💄💎🇫🇷🍭👠👑 Working on getting trial font files of a Beta version ready for early testing in March. One of the biggest highlights of this year was getting a chance to work with @ucllc and @brandnewbyucllc on a custom version of my typeface, Stringer, to be used in the visual language for the 2025 Brand New Conference. The result of this customization was Stringer Stencil 🛠️ This year’s @bnconf conference was hosted in Pittsburgh, PA. Designed by @ucllc founders, Armin Vit and Bryony Gomez-Palacio, the identity is rooted in the steel-heavy past of Pittsburgh, demonstrated through thoughtfully selected typographic choices. It’s clear to see how much work Bryony and Armin put into the design of the conference through the quality of applications—most of them being custom assembled, painted, or made in some degree by the founders themselves. I’m incredibly honored that Stringer was chosen for this project. Thank you Bryony and Armin! Calligraphy for a holiday party invite 🦢🌟🍭🥂🎄🛷

Yesterday, I completed my first year of training the Indonesian martial art “Pukulan Kuntao Silat” at @onewithheart 🌹🌟 This community has shaped me in so many ways, and I am forever grateful. Thank you to my instructors for their endless guidance, leadership, and generosity. Thank you to my classmates for their radical encouragement this year, throughout the highs and lows.
