Today we made zines sharing information about the experiences of trans people, the necessity of queer parties, Celtic folklore and then some. Beautiful day, beautiful folk šš“āā ļø
š some fun reading bits in preparation for the fields of the summer š catch me running 2x zine workshops at Earthworks festival this weekend influenced by āClub Commonsā (2026) @velocitypress ; and a potential reading project in the works inspired by āSound System: The Political Power of Musicā @plutopress ; and some other very fun and IMPORTANT reading materials inspiring a zine or something suitably fun soon š¤
Skaters Support Trans Rights
This campaign is a solidarity project between trans and skater communities in Liverpool. The collaboration is brought about by the relaunch of the community arts exhibition āPride is a Trans led Protestā (2026) after facing censorship within the wider arts community in Liverpool. Lost Art, a local skate shop, provides a new home and space of safety for the exhibition in the face of increasing transphobia both locally and nationally.
Profits from the campaign go to supporting the Trans* Info Van - a new project and mobile info shop for trans* artist, author and activist works and zines - with 10% going to Protect Scouse Dolls, Liverpool.
Bring cash for t-shirts, posters, stickers and enjoy a hot or cold drink while your at itšā¤ļø
Opening tomorrow @lostartlive āPride is a Trans Led Protestā @homotopiafest is THE long awaited exhibition of the year, battling censorship and transphobia in 2025. We didnāt let that stop us though - the exhibition opens with a reflective evening of conversation, connection and collaboration, featuring a panel with curators @conniefrankish and @gary.needham with artists @mahito_junior_ and @charliesupastar , hosted by yours truly š and the ever lovely and weird @tstheidiot performing some nice poems with some live sounds š
More than an exhibition, the show is a collaborative, solidarity-building project between DIY, radical spaces and cultures. Hosted @lostartlive , itās a living document of trans resistance, joy and community. Bringing together work from activists, grassroots organisers and artists from Liverpool and beyond, Pride is a Trans Led Protest! centres the voices, histories and futures of trans people.
Amazing artwork by @benyoudanart
šCurrently making some notes before @exhibition_research_lab talk on Tuesday; trying to find a structure that makes sense of the last 15 years of being an artist (now with a PhD) that organises, thinks and writes/reflects, rather than makes anything in particular. There will of course be zine discourse, there will be queer/trans discourse (if you missed the third image), there may also be a small performative element cos I can be DRAMATIC. But basically I wanna think about why we need institutions (I.e. universities etc) and why they need us⦠š Maybe one day I will stop going on and on about praxis but today is not that day š Letās rip it all up bb š
LIVERPOOL PREMIERE SCREENING of Blue Has No Borders - Thursday 12th March from 6-8pm.
āJessi moves to Folkestoneās white cliffs; a crucible for debates on what English identity means as refugees cross daily from France. But the film Jessi thinks sheās making, about impossible social and psychological divisions, is changed by six of her new neighbours, who embody hope for a country of messy inclusivity.ā
Featuring a panel discussion with Liverpool locals about how we bridge divides in your community:
@sarahpcorbett@emeri____c@mrboyfood@asylumlinkmerseyside@centreforpeoplesjustice
@emeri____c 's sound is groovy, vibrant, and instantly uplifting. Thereās a bounce in every beat that feels warm and magnetic, making it almost impossible not to move your body. The rhythm carries a joyful pulse, blending feel good energy with a confident edge that lights up the room.
They are steadily making waves in the queer scene, bringing people together through sound that feels freeing, expressive, and unapologetically alive.
Iāll be appearing on a panel for the documentary āBlue Has No Bordersā @bluehasnoborders directed by Jessie Gutch @picturehouse_fact on the 12th March at 6pm.
The film is about overcoming social divides within the UK and what it means to be British within a time of crisis and nationhood. The story is told through the perspectives of 6 people living in Folkestone; who each have uncertainties around what it means to be British.
Iāve been invited to appear on the panel due to my involvement in the āStories of Solidarityā zine project and associated work. Iām really looking forward to seeing the film and responding to some questions š„
The link for a ticket is in my bio.
ā¼ļøš A whole year later see what weāve learned on the āStories of Solidarityā project with University of Liverpool and @asylumlinkmerseyside
The final workshop in a year-long series will take place at @doesliverpool on Friday the 13th of February, 3-5pm. In this workshop we plan to edit the zine collaboratively before it goes to print. Look out for the launch date later this year š
Please join us if you took part in any of the counter-demonstrations in Liverpool across Summer 2024, or if you took part in any of the workshops associated with the āStories of Solidarityā research project. ā¼ļøš
As always, DM me if you are interested, have Qās or are nervous about coming. Iām dead friendly š„°
