Étude Arts celebrates @ellsno who joins @arslyricahouston for a performance tonight of Handel’s Aci, Galatea e Polifemo at Zilkha Hall, The Hobby Center. This is Handel’s first setting of the tale; a decade later he created the better-known Acis and Galatea and Ars Lyrica is delighted to present the Houston premiere of the former serenata, whose fiery score provides abundant opportunities for vocal display. TOI TOI TOI!!!
Étude Arts celebrates @ellsno who joins Patrick Dupré Quigley and @bostonbaroque for performances of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass on the stage of Jordan Hall on March 6 & 8. Apt for the times in which we live, this monumental mass reflects both the anxiety of the age and Haydn’s enduring belief in hope and triumph. TOI TOI TOI!!!
As we approach our final performance tonight, I’m reminded that opera only comes alive through the people who make it. This cast and creative team have given everything to The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. I’m profoundly grateful for what we’ve shared. 💙
I’m excited for wherever this story finds its next life. And to this amazing group of people, I hope we meet again sooner than later, on and off the stage! 🦸♂️💥

NORDIC SOUNDSCAPES: Amidst the hyggelig Nordic/Minnesotan ambience of Orchestra Hall, @ellsno offered a mind-boggling performance of @hansabrahamsen ’s take on Ophelia in ‘let me tell you’ alongside @minnorch . At times harrowingly angular and at others viscerally fragile, Snouffer lent a miraculously warm tone to the acrobatic vocal writing (to put it lightly!). This piece has been hailed as one of the best of the 21st century, and Lauren Snouffer showed us what it means to be a singer at that frontier. This was courageous singing, and no one recognizes courage like a Minnesotan these days. (Oh, and the Sibelius 1 was absolutely a contender for best MN Orch performances of the season!)
Singers next assemble for BEETHOVEN’S NINTH at Orchestra Hall at the end of March, featuring our own @tenor_vs_wild and @minnesotachorale !
Étude Arts celebrates @ellsno who joins Music Director Thomas Søndergård and the @minnorch for performances of Hans Abrahamsen’s Let me tell you on January 16 & 17 as part of the Orchestra’s Nordic Soundscapes initiative. TOI TOI TOI!!!
