I made these companion baskets during my third trimester of pregnancy, a representation of the mother baby dyad. With this smaller basket, the initial form has become enveloped by another. . At a time when teachers and parents struggle to compete for kids’ attention, these images speak volumes about the value of Land + Sky’s educational programs. Over 700 students signed up for 2 hour visits over 5 days. Students had 1 hour with our regenerative soils expert @worm.folk and 1 hour of multi sensory art activities with art instructors from @vitaartcenter , @santapaulaartmuseum and @artbus805 . @robinthewallace designed a curriculum connecting kids to art through place, place through purpose, and purpose through history and science. Coming soon, January 24th 2026! The California Nature Art Museum is delighted to share our latest group exhibition, "Ocean Forests: Our Coastal Communities," which celebrates one of California’s most ecologically productive and diverse ecosystems - the kelp forest. Giant kelp is the largest marine plant on earth, with each stalk growing up to 120 ft in length and weighing up to 700 lbs. With an impressive ten year lifespan, giant kelp is also one of the most ecologically productive organisms in the world, sequestering and removing at least 4 million tonnes of CO2 per year. This show will include four celebrated artists and three different mediums - Richard Salas (photography @seaoflightphotography ), Laura Simonato (photography @thetidepooler ), Angelina LaPointe (block printing @sidecarpress ), and Eliot Spaulding (textile/weaving @eliot_spaulding ). Each artist tells their own unique story about the vibrancy and importance of life amongst giant kelp for the purpose of education, inspiration, and ocean advocacy.
