Episode 6 of @mastersoftheairappletv streaming now on @appletv ✈️ Jayyysus what an absolute trip. So lucky to have worked alongside the amazingly talented and sound @anthonyboyle and @belpowley - such moving performances in this episode from them both! A total joy to work with legendary director duo @fleck.ryan and Anna Boden who made me feel part of the crew right away. Thank you so much to @oliviagranted and @lucybevancasting for giving me this incredible opportunity and being so lovely, means so much to be a little part of this ❤️ I hope you enjoy my performance as Ella Walsh. You can listen to my cover of Woody Guthrie’s Tear The Fascists Down from the show on all streaming platforms now. A song with a powerful message that’s sadly just as needed in 2024 as when it was written 80 years ago in 1944. “Good people, what are we waiting on?” Produced by my insanely talented brother @cian_tides who also plays the gorgeous sax on the track. “Good people what are we waiting on?” Proud to get to sing Tear The Fascists Down in episode 6 of Masters of the Air as Ella Walsh. It’s an honour to sing this powerful message over such a poignant moment in this series - I hope you like my performance. I feel like this song has become part of my DNA, so here’s another live version for you. You can stream my cover of the song wherever you get your music too. Fuck fascism. #tearthefascistsdown #mastersoftheair #mota #coversong #livemusic

A clumsily delivered verse of Suzanne with my guitar that I did not tune and my frizzy head that I did not address. Please enjoy the imperfection or else perhaps publicly air your grievances here. I will accept either response. Lenny C, he could write a good tune in fairness.

Trigger warning: Christmas content well into the second week of January AND families singing in harmony. Some family music from over Christmas and New Years. It’s easy to take it for granted when you’ve grown up with it, but I have since learned not all families are such big nerds. Very lucky to have a cartoonishly large extended family that always put music at the centre of everything we do. This is only some of the talented musicians I am proud to be related to. Legends the lot of ye! 1. MacSweenys doing our best caroller impressions with Auntie Eleanor on piano 2. Eleanor receiving her prestigious award for her excellent accompaniment 3. A snippet of Eleanor treating us to some Rachmaninov 4. My niece Lola doing the Lámh sign for “star” with my brother Eoghan on guitar 5. Genuinely a normal evening in my mom’s house over Christmas 6. Me immediately dipping out of harmony so as not to scream into my phone while showing cute photo and message from my niece Anna 7. My niece Ella being a pop star with her backing vocalists 8. Several people singing Eleanor Rigby out of time (me) with my brother Cian and his daughter Lola on guitar 9. A nice moment between my brother Denis and his daughter Anna 10. Uncle Fred giving us some rockin Bob Dylan with the NYE Choir 11. My cousin Orla (pregnant with future jazz signer baby 🤰) singing The Nearness of You with the incredible Chris Newman, a friend of her mom’s (my auntie Vera) 12. Me being lucky to sing After You’ve Gone with Chris Newman 13. My cousin Jess on the banjo after just getting it as a Christmas pressie (featuring 10/10 stare from my rockstar nephew Killian) 14. My brother Conor and I playing John Prine’s version of Clay Pigeons 15. 78 year old uncle Michael bangin out the jigs 16. Honourable mention for a pre-Christmas show with cousins Mik and Annie in Whelan’s 17. And bonus clip of lots of ADHD in the kitchen while Snowy endures the situation Happy New Year everyone (if you’re still allowed to say that!) Let this one be filled with even more music and derangement ❤️

My incredible niece Lola 💕 Lola suffered complications at birth that have resulted in Cerebral Palsy, a condition that affects motor function. While there is no cure, there is hope with early intervention, treatments, and therapies. It is absolutely vital that Lola receives the intensive therapies and care she needs throughout her life, but particularly in these early years. Unfortunately, our public system is failing children like Lola. Children are being told to wait months and sometimes years for treatment, when waiting isn’t an option. My brother Cian and my sister-in-law Julie have done incredible hard work with Lola, and I am constantly filled with pride and amazement in seeing this remarkable little girl move through her life and challenges with such curiosity, determination, and always the biggest smile. To continue accessing the top level support that Lola needs so she can keep moving forward, they need support. Next April, organised by Julie’s powerhouse group of loving friends, we are hiking Torc Trial Waterfall to rally behind Lola with the goal of raising €50k. Every cent raised will go directly towards Lola’s care. Any amount you are able to contribute is appreciated more than words can express. It feels flippant to say, but this is truly life changing stuff for Lola and we can’t thank you enough for your support. Anyone who is lucky enough to have met Lola knows that she is pure joy. Full of love, laughter, and a total charmer, I am so hugely proud to be her auntie and friend. I have so much belief in Lola and am so looking forward to seeing the progress I know she will continue to make. Link in my bio to donate ❤️ #LaceUpForLola #TeamLola

I wrote a Substack essay and now I’m writing an instagram post. I am an unstoppable machine! Here are a couple of hard-hitting highlights from this most recent piece to entice you to read if you haven’t already. I think the Snape compilation video with the Green Day soundtrack is my finest work, even though all I did was find it on the internet. I’ve also included a little snippet from each of my previous essays in case you would like to go read them, plus a bonus note of encouragement from my uncle! I like to keep things nice and light (as demonstrated in the screenshots) until I start talking about trauma and abuse. If that sounds like something you’re into then you can read my essays and subscribe to my Substack at the link in my bio. I plan to write much more! Thank you to all of you wonderful people who have read my writing so far and taken the time to send me lovely messages in response. These essays are extremely personal and it’s very lovely to have you share in the vulnerability and derangement with me. Grá mór x
