We’ve got an exciting line up of events and activities planned for next week as part of #cdw2026
We’re hosting talks on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st - alongside architects from AHMM, Arup, Bell Phillips and O’Donnell + Tuomey. We’re also showcasing of some of the best independent brick makers and have an interactive digital wall display by wienerberger.
Plus, we present ‘Light as Brick’, an installation designed by Simon Astridge for EH Smith in collaboration with Arcitile. Two of our most unusual bricks from Sant’Anselmo and Terraformae are transformed into unique furniture and lighting pieces that explore bricks’ potential beyond the built environment.
🗓️ May 19-21
📍 EH Smith, 38-42 St John Street, EC1M 4DL

Light as Brick
A brick so textured it cannot be laid in a wall. Light passes through one material and catches on the ruined surface of the other. The wrong bricks, on purpose.

Bricks by @fornacesantanselmo and @terraformae
At @sadlers_wells Theatre in London, @odonnell_tuomey have created a building enveloped entirely in Sk1n terracotta tiles which wrap seamlessly across both roof and façade.
The overlapping profile of @fornacesantanselmo Sk1n tiles unifies the form, while subtle chamfers and corbelling add depth, shadow and texture to the theatre’s distinctive presence.

There’s something compelling about a material that looks like it might not last - and yet does.
“Eroded” explores that tension. What appears fragile is the result of a deliberate process, where water reshapes fired matter into something entirely new.
Through a technique developed by @ernest_simon_ernest , cracked bricks are reworked using controlled erosion, revealing surfaces that feel organic, irregular, and architectural.

A cohesive material palette across a landscape-led scheme in Oxford.
For the first phase at Oxford Brookes University, we worked closely with @mica_architects to develop a brick range from a single factory, varied in tone, consistent in texture.

High-gloss, high impact.
At the 32-storey co-living scheme in West London, designed by @htadesignllp and developed by Tide Construction with Vision Volumetric, glazed bricks are used to create a bold, sculptural elevation that references the character of traditional London pubs.
The reflective finish of glazed bricks shifts with light throughout the day, adding variation at scale.
Delivered using volumetric construction in just 18 months.

Capella completes the King’s Cross masterplan. A terrace of seven towers overlooking Lewis Cubitt Park, delivering mixed-tenure homes with ground floor retail.
We worked with @alliesandmorrison , @chapman_taylor_architects and @laingorourke to supply white textured bricks for precast application. The bricks are dual-faced with a precast key to improved efficiency, while bespoke shaped bricks specials ensured the precast panels are seamless in their appearance.

Set beside Tower Bridge, this retrofit reworks a 1980s office into a lower-carbon, future-facing workplace.
Led by @stifftrevillion with @willmottdixon & @avv.solutions , the scheme retains the existing frame, adding new floors and a setback terrace overlooking the city.
Grey Multi and Blue Black Multi bricks shape the updated facade, giving the building a grounded, contemporary identity.

Glass Bricks by @fornacesantanselmo
Drawing on Murano’s glassmaking legacy, these bricks are crafted through a specialised process that gives facades a distinctive three-dimensional presence.
Designed to work in dialogue with terracotta, Glass Bricks introduce light and transparency as key design tools, creating continuity between interior and exterior while enhancing both aesthetics and performance.
With zero water absorption, installation requires a bonding agent to ensure effective adhesion and long-term durability.

Geobrick is a masonry facade solution that combines the structural strength of concrete with the refined appearance of natural stone.
Each unit is formed with a 15 mm layer of natural stone aggregates, consolidated and cured with 80 mm of concrete aggregate to create a durable, single-piece system.
A competitive alternative to natural stone, concrete, and clay linear products.
