As we head into the NYC art fair season, we are thrilled to see our studio member Kosuke Kawahara (@teppennisiri ) presenting new work at NADA New York 2026 @newartdealers ) Kawahara has been a part of the EFA Studio Program community since 2021, developing a practice that masterfully navigates the intersection of painting and photography. We’re incredibly proud to support the growth of our members and to see their work reaching such dynamic platforms. View the work: 📍 Booth F9 (presented by RAINRAIN) 🏛️ NADA New York | 601 W 26th Street 📅 May 13–17, 2026 About the Artist: Kosuke Kawahara is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work often reconstructs the "alternative space around darkness," addressing themes of growth, decay, and mediated vision through a multi-layered, site-relevant approach. #EFAStudios #EFAStudioProgram #KosukeKawahara #NADANewYork #ArtistSpotlight

We’re excited to share that EFA Studio member Laura Anderson Barbata (@mx_lab ) is featured in "Wayamou: Common Tongues" exhibition on view through May 10 at Museo Tamayo (@eneltamayo ) in Mexico City. 🗓 Exhibition Dates: February 6 – May 10, 2026 📍 Museo Tamayo, Paseo de la Reforma 51, Mexico City ✨ Special Program: Intervención: Wayamou (Raphael Red) 🎉 Saturday, May 9 | 12:00 – 1:00 PM 📍 Explanada del Museo Tamayo Don't miss this powerful public intervention on the museum's esplanade. A culmination of Barbata’s long-standing Transcommunality project, this performance brings together the Brooklyn Jumbies, the Zancudos de Zaachila (Oaxaca), and Danza de Diablas Afrocosecha. The work centers on the color red—specifically referencing grana cochinilla (cochineal), an ancient Mexican natural dye once more valuable than silver. Through textiles and ritual movement featuring characters like "The Queen" and "The Guardian," the intervention explores red as a symbol of power, life, resistance, and transformation. It is a vibrant fusion of stilt dancing, music, and social activism that invites the public to participate in a collective act of memory. The exhibition "Wayamou: Common Tongues" features over 100 works created in collaboration with Yanomami artist Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe, emphasizing reciprocity and intercultural dialogue. Looking back at “Close to the Ground” exhibition at EFA Gallery, with Deric Carner (@ithoughtiwasreal ), curator and Director of Exhibitions & Programming at EFA, walking us through the exhibition. Featuring works printed at EFA Studios and the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, Close to the Ground brought together artists working across woodcut, photogravure, lithography, chine collé, intaglio, blind embossing, and more. Across diverse approaches, the exhibition explored how printmaking can carry memory, myth, figuration, abstraction, land, history, and the body. Rooted in touch, pressure, surface, and accumulation, Close to the Ground reflected the intimacy of printmaking itself: one surface meeting another, carrying traces of process, place, and time.
