A first glimpse of our Sound Sponsor
@mineral.sound in these first images of the stone speakers and Japanese Washi paper clouds designed by
@ut_iaep in the stunning vertical space of The Nelson Stair in
@somersethouse for
@londondesignbiennale (5-29 June). Project curated by
@clarefarrowstudio . Connecting earth and sky, we are presenting 4 of these newly launched and exquisitely crafted bespoke stone speakers by Alexandre Bertrand, founder of Mineral Sound – the 2 largest made from Swaledale Fossil, more than 350 million years old, and quarried in Yorkshire, in the UK. Named ‘Hex 110’ the minimalist speaker form is inspired by the hexagonal shape of Jupiter’s North Pole! Rich in fossils, the gleaming, fascinating surface has copper-toned functional details, and we are about to hear their astonishing, warm, resonating sound for the first time in this 18th-century Stair. The music of
@midori_komachi will soon be filling the space – more images and more speaker designs by Mineral Sound to follow!
The Japan Pavilion is also sponsored by
@official_mikimoto (Japanese pearls) and supported using public funding by
@aceagrams . Music Partner
@londonmusicfund Lighting by
@eepee_elbourne and Sam Porter-Frakes on behalf of
@arupgroup ,
@awagami_factory and also supported by: The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation, POLA Art Foundation, JSPS Kakenhi Grant and Hinrichsen Foundation 🙏 #washipaper #ldbpaperclouds #handmadepaper #japan #japanese #japanesedesigner #clouds #speakers #sound #acoustics #interiordesign #architecture #stone #material #ldb25 #londondesignbiennale #innovation
