Another successful day that started with two really fun classes in the morning! Some more amazing teaching opportunities at the public school as well as DCK in the afternoon! After a full day, we all met at a local restaurant for a big family dinner and some authentic Kenyan food! We are feeling so grateful for every moment we have here and the bonds that we’ve made with these amazing people!! 🤍
Day 2 Recap!
This morning was an early 5am wake up call to go on a drive through the Nairobi National Park! We got some hot chocolate and watched the sunrise through the park. We spotted a hyena, giraffes, a lion, buffalo, rhino, different types of birds, and lots of ostriches and impalas! After getting stuck in the mud for an hour, we all piled into one car to head over to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust! We met a rhino and zebra who are best friends! Then we watched the elephants, including Daba who we adopted as a class, as they got fed and played in the dirt pile! We ended the day with a pizza night and playing card games with the boys!
Our first teaching day was incredible with these beautiful kids! Some of us went to a public school to teach various styles of dance to multiple classrooms. The rest of us went over to Dance Centre Kenya to teach classes in the studio. The kids were so eager and ready to learn! We had so much fun and can’t wait to keep teaching! Thank you Artists for Africa for providing us with this amazing opportunity! It is so special interacting with these kids and sharing our passion of dance with them!
Day 1 Recap!!
After a yummy brunch, we headed over to Dance Centre Kenya to take a hip hop class with Bolt! We did a fun combo that he had taught us earlier this semester on zoom! After class, we visited the Giraffe Centre, learned some information about giraffes, and were given food to feed them! We stopped by Galleria Mall for a quick bite to eat and some shopping before heading home. We ended the day with a big family dinner at the house!
The expression and connection that can be experienced through dance is something I am eternally grateful to be able to explore, experience and curate.

“Granny’s Gamble” 🪭♠️🎰👠
Thank you to my burlesque showgirls and Elvis dancing my Granny’s dazzling life story with your glamour, swing, and Elvis moves. Not only do I love watching their big & bold dancing, but I love watching the crowd’s reaction go wild. I’m proud to see my cast’s confidence and flair grow throughout my senior chor piece, and Granny is honored that my cast is retelling her stories through dance! ❤️🖤
