Samhain II – October 31, 2002 – 23 years ago today. The first big IT show was Love From Beyond that we threw with Syst3m on Valentine’s Day, 1998 at St Andrews Hall. The next significant thing we did for events was the Samhain series which launched in 2001 at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. This was the beginning of
@__infinite_dimensions__ doing venue transformations, specially to cover up all the glossy framed press photos and beer branded mirrors hanging around the space. Up until this point Infinite Dimensions had been doing a street punk / avant garde performance art take on fashion shows. Elements of this came into this show with the additional spectacle
@amber.gillen ’s Infinite Dimensions added to the
@ectomorphit show — additional dancers, seasoned BDSM players, and Amber’s own fire fingers performance. The Ectomorph show also included outfits created by Amber for Ectomorph, not pictured is the mid show costume change. Ectomorph was joined by
@perspectstasy on reel to reel tape, adding layers of sounds, and a special guest performance for the encore from Detroit rave legend Bileebob
@famdet in his trade mark oven mit outfit.
@wolf_eyes_official did the opening live performance, and I’m so glad
@doug_coombe was there to capture these incredible action shots, as you can see their performance was next level pure id energy. This was very close to the time when BMG produced a few albums for Wolf Eyes on Sub Pop.
@carlossouffront was the DJ for the night, providing the perfect soundtrack for the ever changing context. Throughout these new rediscovered photos, thanks to Doug Coombe, you can catch the feeling of these early Samhain parties that evolved and mutated much further as IT moved to Detroit in the following years.
