On Thursday, March 19, we had the distinct honor of attending
@govpritzker 's presser about the Illinois Film Tax Incentive Expansion and thanking him personally for his support in sustainable filmmaking. This is a very exciting time for Illinois. All of the new incentives are going to help drive business, expand our workforce, and help us get more resources to continue to build our state into a thriving film industry where people can realistically build their careers instead of needing to relocate for more stable income.
@ecofixr had the pleasure of observing the development of the most historic film incentive: the
@illinoisfilmoffice 's 5% tax uplift for certified sustainable film, TV, and commercials - the first of its kind in the nation.
We are incredibly grateful for the Governor's and the Director of the Illinois Film Office, Peter Hawley's, visionary leadership. They see the transformative power of sustainability, and we can't wait to see how this further solidifies Illinois as one of the greatest places to live and film.
“Being first is both a great honor and a lot of responsibility,” Peter Hawley said. “The eyes of the production world will be on Illinois. Fortunately, we’re in a good position to start.” Part of the reason they are in great shape is that Peter and Louis Ferrara, IFO Deputy Director, made a point to consult with professionals from the film industry and the sustainability industry. Ecofixr had the pleasure of helping connect IFO with some of these wonderful people. Here are the folks that I know deserve a big shout-out:
Cassie Carroll & Anthony Santarelli,

Here's to continuing the journey to make Illinois the greenest film hub!
