I've been a little AWOL on here ..so thought I'd come back to 'the grid' with big news from my portrait work over at @heathershuker . For the second time (also 2018) I am one of the winners of this years' Portrait of Britain with The British Journal of Photography. @bjp1854 . Making portraits is an integral part of how I work especially when capturing weddings and over the years I've received wonderful feedback about my approach. . “..She’s got a particular talent for portrait photography. I want to frame almost every image she took of our guests…” . “Heather’s pictures have a unique quality to them that captures the essence of you..” . The portrait is being displayed in the UK’s biggest annual photography exhibition running on digital display screens across the UK in partnership with JCDecaux. @jcdecaux_uk . The winning and shortlisted images have also been published in a book printed beautifully as always by @hoxtonminipress . . Tina & Gina, identical twins feel the need to be together in their self-sufficient universe, and describe their ramshackle house in the woods as ‘heartwarming and spiritual’.  I captured Gina & Tina working on a series about Off Grid Communities. . I will be sharing a lot more of my wedding portfolio on here too as soon as I've delivered all of my December weddings to my lovely couples.

Here's a little selection from 2021. After a shaky start, weddings were back in full joy & dancing mode from July. There was a lot of uncertainty & changing dates, however, when it came to it all of that stress was forgotten... Joy, joy, joy and it's been my absolute pleasure to capture this. Now more than ever, we've all realised that the most important things at weddings are human connection and sharing your love with your besties in real person in the same room...nothing else matters ..other than a good dance of.course! Can't wait to get started again with all my 2022 weddings. Roll on April...

If you are currently planning your Asylum Chapel wedding ceremony, you’ll know that chapel is all about light. The atmosphere shifts dramatically with the change of season and the sun's path throughout each day.  Having photographed weddings at the Asylum Chapel in Peckham for over 10 years, I’ve developed an intuitive understanding of the light. “The light in the Asylum Chapel can be tricky but Heather is super experienced so I knew the pictures would be great, but even so I wasn’t expecting that they’d be quite as lovely as they were” Mid-Summer: In the height of summer, the chapel is flooded with bright, directional light from the high back windows. I lean into the cooler light to enhance the famous blue-toned patina and weathered textures of the walls. Winter & Low level sun or just dark days As the sun sits lower in the sky, the chapel takes on a warmer, more cinematic soul.
