I had loads of fun creating these fake eyeballs for The Wharf theatre's 2025 production of A Bunch Of Amateurs. Made to be dropped and bounce on the stage, they're made from repurposed ping pong balls and sealed with lots of varnish!

💙 FMP ☆ PLANNING PROCESS 💙

💙 FMP ☆ MARCH - MAY 2025 💙
Finally getting around to posting my Final Major Project! As I hope it's evident, and after much deliberation, I decided to make a mascot head of Sulley, specifically from the film Monsters University. This is essentially something similar to the costumes that are worn at the Disney parks.
It was constructed from plastazote, with a pattern taken from a sculpt and then scaled up, with upholstery foam to form the other basic shapes of his face, like his eyebrows and lips. A pattern was then taken off this form to create a fur 'skin'. His lips were covered in blue felt - an excellent colour match (thanks @hobbycrafthq ), and he has purple splotches sewn down the back of his head, which were sewn into the skin.
His teeth were 3D modeled and then 3D printed, and then had a sand, a paint, and quite a few gloss coats for maximum shine. His horns, nose and the spines on his back were all sculpted from plastaline and then moulded in silicone and cast with fast-cast resin with cotton tape embedded for an easier and more secure attachment to the foam form. They were then painted- the horns and spines with a boney, beigey colour, and the nose in blue with hundreds of tiny hand-painted dots, which were then dotted over with UV resin to give it a texture not unlike a liquorice allsort.
The eyes were made from plastic domes, and the irises were laser cut from MDF and then painted. They're embedded into the plastic domes with UV resin to give the eyes more depth. The eyelids are made from the same felt as the lips.
Inside is a head-cap made from plastazote, and the inner structure consists mostly of a cut up pool noodle, which holds the headcap in place and offers more internal structural support.
He was finished off with some hairspray to hold his untamable fur and stylish quiff in place, and then he had an airbrush in a darker blue to bring out the curves in his face, the depth around his eyes, and to make his eyebrows stick out from the rest of his fur.

🎨 EXHIBITION ☆ JUNE 2025 🎨
A few spoilers for things to come, but I had an excellent time displaying some of my work at our in-house exhibition. We were also able to display some photos of our group work, both as the Propstars, and also for Worthing Theatre's pantomime last year.
It was a wonderful evening, and was great to see other degree-level work from the other courses. It was also a good test-run for New Blades, where I will be displaying this work again, but in London, and with a few small changes. Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported me. 💖

Who could that possibly be? Had to share some new updates as she is finally taking form. Turns out dying yarn with acrylic paint is easier than you might think.
She still needs some tweaking, she can't be Bunsen Honeydew-ing for the rest of her life so I'm sure she would appreciate some eyes, and I have big plans to turn her pair of jeans into an even more stylish pair of dungarees. And she needs some shoes. Big time.

🔍 DECEMBER 2024 ☆ THE SHERLOCK HOLMES MUSEUM 🔍
Finally getting around to sharing this amazing project that I got to work on with the Propstars - the wonderful @_charlie.anderson_ and @beneanathanyprops ! Together, we created a model of the main study for @thesherlockholmesmuseum in London. We had the best time visiting for reference images and measurements, and we are so pleased with the finished project.
It was great to finally get around to using Milliput for sculpting, as well as return to model making- something I hadn't done in a while. Also, massive thanks to @jacobprops for helping me with the electrical elements - and @erinty_props for giving us a hand with the many, many tiny pieces that went into this model.

🎃 HALLOWEEN ☆ 2024 🎃
In keeping with tradition, it only feels fair to share this year's Halloween costume again. It seems my real talent is making cardboard Minecraft costumes, because this year I made an Enderdragon head, wings and tail for a Halloween costume, and a pumpkin head for a Christmas celebration.
They're all made from cardboard and painted with acrylic, and connected with elastic, felt, safety pins, and a repurposed visor.

Two weeks of very hard work was all completely worth it to set it up and see it in the window of @gaysthewordbookshop . This Halloween haunted house is composed of seventeen different pieces, and frames the shelf in the bookshops window.

For the first unit of 3rd year, we have been heading out into the world and sourcing and managing our own prop commissions.
It has been an absolute honour to make a Halloween window display for @gaysthewordbookshop over the last two weeks with my amazing team @beneanathanyprops and @_charlie.anderson_ . It's all made from MDF, and is attached to the bookshelf in the shop window. Finished photos to come - we are so happy with the finished product.

🌈 SUMMER PROJECT 🌈
Can you guess what I'm working on over summer??
Following @adamkreutinger 's puppet tutorials, I'm trying out muppet making for the first time! Despite how absolutely horrifying she is looking so far, I think she's coming along well! It's a good chance to work on my sewing and soft props skills, including working with upholstery foam again.
I'm having a great time. The next step involves constructing her face and adding her hair, and making her some clothes and shoes!
I cant wait to share the finished puppet! (Can you guess who she's going to look like?)
