Gizmo mogwai animatronic
Here are some photos of the stages that went into the creation of my FMP third year project.
This posts shows mainly the aesthetics as I apparently didn't take any photos of the mech at the time.
The mech is made from FDM prints with aluminium, brass and steel reinforcements. It uses 12 servos, 6 of which are external, running cables to the eyes and ears from inside the cabinet.
It uses faux fur and silicone skin with a removable face plate to allow for different expressions to be added in future.
Heres some of the photos of the Star Trek Compression Rifle when it was work in progress. Most of the body was 3d printed from PLA+ so alot of the work involved was filling with AK model filler, sanding and repeating 😅. I got to learn alot about finishing 3d prints though! along with learning a little bit of electronics here and there.
My highlight for this project however was the custom bolts! I decided to take a crack and trying to replicate the bolts they used on the original phaser and Id say I did a pretty good job! made from 8mm bolts with a threaded metal rod insert to get that button on top and polished to near perfection with sandpaper.

Half length swords replicas
Here are a couple of stunt swords I made for the upcoming @gallowmerethemovie
Inspired by the stunt swords in The Witcher, they have the end of the blade missing which allows room to motion stabbing. The rest of the blade would be added in post.
I had a lot of fun working on these especially taking the opportunity to expand my metal working skills with the full metal ornate engraved knuckle guard!
The rest of the construction uses assorted hardwoods.

Kitsch Trophy head
This resin cast head was my first venture into moulding, casting and the world of urethane resins.
I used Plastiline clay on a Styrofoam armature to sculpt the face and then used silicone and fiberglass to create a mould.
A shell of the face was cast with polyurethane fastcast and filled with hard expanding foam.
Its mounted on a shield made from reclaimed hardwood.
Thanks @coffee.lemon4 for being my model!
