Me being a pretty mediocre rider why not stick to being a mediocre photographer too. I can’t remember if it was @tbirdley or who but I did get a photog name while going out to a few Superparks years ago where I was dubbed “Auto Focus”… I was cool w that too as I sat and clicked away with some of today’s most well known snowboard photographers with an old Cannon T70 and two cheap lenses. I was there for fun and being w friends so if I got a few ok pics I was happy. So here are a few from back around 13-15 yrs ago that I took at random places. @forestbailey Chas? I think I took these in 2001. Danny’s ramp in the Burg with @andymac720 #salmanagah . @pstonebru@taborcoates and a couple others. The ramp was fast and rotting. Eventually it moved to Ayer at 9 Victor and lived on a few more years. #fitchburg @easternboarder ….correction ..built in Ayer moved to the Burg. I’ve taken a few bumps to the head.

Old stuff. Most of it’s long gone. Everything was sold to get the next thing or painted out of boredom a few times. All of it was fun. 89 @sims_snowboards 1/2 pipe with Robert Smith ish nose piece. Burton black top painted numerous times. Megaflexes. Airwalk horrible gigantic barely fit in any bindings boots. Santa Cruz DTK that I loved. K2s Rossi and Mistral boards. I rode whatever. It was just fun being out there.
Every once in a while I get lost digging through old photos and glad we took them. It’s easy now to have a camera every moment in your life. Things were rarely captured back then so the few moments we did catch are so much more cherished. @brightonresort@snowbird April 1993. Always had a freestyle board but did put the hard boots on occasionally too for trench digging.

Finally made it to AK. Still trying to process just how incredible it is up there. Eight of us piled in a couple of RVs and went exploring. Squeezed a lot into ten days. Talkeetna, Devils Canyon rapids, Whittier glaciers, Seward, Girdwood, Alyeska, Palmer and more. @marathonhelicopters@atvseward@26glaciers@mahaysjetboatadventures absolutely worth the trip.
A few quick pics from an emotional day Sunday going to the celebration of life for @_c_rice_ Luckily the park dried up enough after that many of us went there to keep the talk going and just be together. A big part of the tears for me is about how many incredible people are truly so much more than friends. So many years of bonding over shop, skate and snow life together has created this growing family that I love so dearly. I honestly get overwhelmed by the genuine love of this community towards each other. We are all so blessed to have each other. Love you all. ❤️

Update on Murphy. Several months ago we adopted Murphy (formally Preston) from @sterlinganimalshelter When we met him he was terrified and anxious and even hid under a mop sink. Needless to say he didn’t pick us. Something still made us adopt him. He was already passed up by someone else and needed a home and to know he can be loved. Progress has been slow especially with me in particular but he is learning to trust and love us back. It’s been stressful at times and not everyday has come easy but these beautiful animals deserve to be cared for. Recently Murphy finally snuggled up to me one evening leaving me in tears. I’ve missed our girl Maya daily since we let her go last September and been waiting as patiently as possible for that one moment for a connection with Murphy. This sweet boy and sometimes a total menace definitely had some unknown trauma prior to his rescue. I was guessing it would take about a year for him to feel at home and we are pretty much on that track. He is really good with the rest of the family but I am his big hurdle to get over. He will get there with more time. Please adopt your pets. There are so many needing to be loved in constantly full shelters. Took a trip with my favorite people to celebrate the girls college graduations and it happened to also fall on my birthday. Explored quite a bit of Aruba for the first time, got over served, waterlogged, snorkeled, ATV tour, sailed a ship…pretty much left all cares behind for a while. Thanks for all of the birthday wishes and thanks to my beautiful wife Kim for putting these kinds of things together.
