Way back in the late 80s early 90s there was one of the Radest skateparks of all time, located in the Olneyville area of Providence, Rhode Island. The park was called “The skate Hut, it was owned and managed by Fred Smith and Rob Murphy. The Hut was all about parties, music, and insane skating. Sid’s legendary Water Brothers crew from Newport absolutely ruled that place. Local and frequent skaters included, Johnny Car wash, Bruce Juice, Twister, Jonathan, Jason, Jeff Thompson, Jim Noonan, Rick Reed, Metal Man, Ard, Chickenhawk, Kevin Day, Jeff Shank, Dougy, Snibbie, Ram, Eastie, Jay Roche, Alexi and many others, sorry if I missed your name.
Back then our EasternBoarder/ Rhino Skate crew was based in the Shirley/Ayer area of MA. We had multiple vert ramps and a strong skate scene, skaters included, Jon Hobbs, Rhino, James Powers, Jamie Mac, David Wood, Joel Muzzy, Scott Forton, Matt Maguire, Brian Reardon, Craig Martin, and others. Every weekend we would make the trip down to the Hut, all week long we would look forward to partying and skating with our friends in RI.
At one point Sid and the Water Brothers crew made a rip off graphic of our EB logo and put it on t shirts, (actually our logo was already a rip off). Busting balls, all in good fun, Sid changed our “All the Evil Stuff” to “All the Same Shit”, of course we could not let this rest.
We retaliated with a rip off of the Water Brothers logo, Jason Roche change their dolphins into sharks and we then added “Drink, Fight and Fuck”, which we thought best described what was happening in Rhode Island at the time.
Some of my best memories from come from, the Skate Hut, ZT Maximus, and our backyard vert ramps.
Big congratulations to Sid Abbruzzi
