Launching this year, MTA Music is bringing themed performances to key stations across the five boroughs—because New York doesn’t do quiet commutes.

Still processing the weight and beauty of today. I’m deeply humbled and grateful to have performed Blewu at the African Burial Ground National Monument—a space that holds the spirits, stories, and resilience of our ancestors.
Standing there, I kept thinking about what President John Dramani Mahama shared—that remembrance is not solitary, but something we carry together across the diaspora. That truth sat with me as I played, imagining the journeys that passed through the forts of Ghana and ended here, yet still echo in all of us.
And when Mayor Zohran Mamdani spoke about the importance of not just remembering, but continuing the work of justice and dignity for those whose lives were taken and whose humanity was denied, it gave even deeper meaning to the moment.
To then bring that same spirit into the President’s Luncheon was something I don’t take lightly. I’m especially grateful to my Uncle Ben, Ben Dotsei Malor, Deputy Ambassador, for entrusting me with the responsibility of offering my musical voice in such a meaningful space—it’s a trust I carry with deep humility.
Today is one I’ll carry with me for a long time.

When my family immigrated to New York, we lived on McClellan Street—just five blocks from Yankee Stadium. My brothers and I would sneak up to our roof, watch the lights, and listen as Bernie and the @yankees won two of their three-peat World Series.
Fast forward to now: sharing the stage with him, the incredible Jonathan Tetelman, members of the Met Opera strings, all together amazing musicians at @carnegiehall . 🤯
