Sunday Sauce (@sundaysaucepdx ) began as a tribute to co-owner Amanda Winquist's late mother, who made old-school Italian American classics in the typical North Jersey way: heavy on flavor, light on pretense. The initial pop-up was a hit, and in 2025, Amanda and her husband, Judson Winquist, went all-in on a cozy corner spot on North Killingsworth. The result is one of the city's best Italian restaurants. Eater contributor Ben Coleman (@0hcoleman ) has advice on what to get (including an extremely dirty martini with garlic bread-infused vodka 👀) in his most recent dining report. Find more details in the Eater app at the link in our bio. 📸: Devin White/@sundaysaucepdx

Perhaps the most genre-bending interpretation of Filipino food in Portland can be found at Makulít (@makulitpdx ), a neon-splattered burger cart with an intriguing mix of Southeast Asian flavors blended with North American dishes. After some existential uncertainty following the recent shakeup at the Lil’ America pod, Malukít landed at Modhaus (@pdxmodhaus ) near SE 38th and Division. Eater contributor Ben Coleman (@0hcoleman ) advises on which fast-food favorites to order at the Filipino food cart in his recent dining report. The team behind James Beard-nominated Hayward (@haywardrestaurant ) is branching out in Carlton with a new cafe and retail storefront set to debut in July. Lucky Duck (@luckyduck_or ) transforms the historic former Carlton State & Savings Bank space into a community spot where Willamette Valley locals and visitors can grab sweets and pastries, morning coffee, picnic supplies, and even home goods. Also, Lucky Duck is becoming the flex space that Hayward doesn't have on site — a spot to host events both private and public. At the link in bio, read more about what will be in the pastry case and the pop-ups that will take over the upcoming cafe's patio. ✍️: @emily_teel 📸: @carterhiyama

Steakhouses are on the rise across the country, and Portland is no exception. For many, though, it's that classic steakhouse vibe that really hits the spot. Eater contributor Nori De Vega (@nomnom_nori ) visited three iconic Portland steakhouses — Ringside (@ringsidesteakhouse ), Sayler's (@saylers ), and an extremely Portland pick, Acropolis (@acropolis_pdx ), not just for great slabs of meat, but also for crispy onion rings and fried chicken. Find more steakhouses around Portland on the Eater app.

Chef Jose Lalo Camarena (@lalocamarena_ ), known for his pop-up Metlapíl (@metlapil.rest ) and his tasting menu at República, will lead the kitchen at the Malarkey (@the_malarkey_pdx ), opening this summer in the Pearl District. The steakhouse and seafood restaurant comes from celebrity chef Brian Malarkey (@brianmalarkey ), who has already opened over 15 successful restaurants over the course of his career and has a keen eye for talent. “There were a ton of talented chefs in the Portland area, but if you look at the upside of Lalo, he’s accomplished so much at 25," Malarkey says. "And when you meet him in person, he glows.” At the link in bio, read more about how the two chefs bonded over their cowboy upbringings and what you can expect from the untraditional steakhouse with stripper poles in the bathroom. ✍️: @jacksonglidden 📸: Matt Furman and Miguel Aguilera

If you’re looking for the ultimate “only in Portland” experience, look no further than Acropolis Steakhouse Plus. This blue and white striped time capsule isn’t just a steakhouse, it’s a family-owned strip club fever dream that’s been serving up nudity and nosh since 1976. With the news that this iconic spot is officially on the market after 50 years of family-ownership, there’s never been a better time to lean into the nostalgia and celebrate a local landmark that truly does it all. Eater contributor Nori De Vega (@nomnom_nori ) writes about how the “Portland Weird” spirit is alive and well at the Acropolis in her most recent dining report. Find more details in the Eater app at the link in our bio. 📸: @nomnom_nori

The spring update of Eater Portland's 38 best restaurants list is here. These spots define what it means to eat here, adding something distinct and invaluable to the dining scene at large. Check out all the newest additions to the list, plus reliable spots that stayed on the 38, at the link in bio — and see it mapped in the Eater app. ✍️: @0hcoleman 📸: @gadogadopdx and @mollyjsmith1 , @makulitpdx (@0hcoleman ), @iolanis_plate_lunch (@0hcoleman ), @sancheztaqueriaypanaderia , @thepaperbridgepdx (@0hcoleman ), and @kitasteakandribs (@0hcoleman ) Correction: The Makulít slide misstated the name of the second staple dish at the Filipino American restaurant. It should read Filipino spaghetti, not pancit canton.
