🌊 Croyde paddled out today and we weren’t alone.
Across the UK, thousands of people took to beaches, rivers and lakes as part of the @surfersagainstsewage record-breaking national day of action.
@wave_wahines and the community came together with handmade placards, boards in the water and a circle of solidarity, joined by local MP @ian.roome.northdevon .
Why? Because sewage is still being dumped in the very waters we swim, surf and love and the Government’s new Clean Water Bill locks in the same broken system that got us here. We deserve cleaner water. Full stop.
This isn’t just a surfer issue. It’s everyone’s issue.

Bring your broken bits, snagged seams, or wobbly chairs, and our amazing volunteers will help give them a new lease of life. Bring along items that need some attention to either hand:plant or Delta, on the High Street.
No sewing machine repairs this month but we still have clothing, bags, bikes, PAT Testing & more. Every fix helps cut waste, save money, and build community, so pop along, grab a cuppa, and join the repair revolution.
Donations are welcome but not expected.

Every child deserves a brilliant beach day 🏖️
Our Saunton Toy Library makes that possible – but we need your help now to keep the shelves stocked! If you have buckets, spades, beach shoes or any beach toys sitting unused, please consider donating them. It’s a great way to give toys a second life and keep them out of landfill ♻️
📍 Drop them into the EAND office behind Braunton Tesco during school hours (upstairs at Nalu Beads)
📍 Or pop them directly into the Toy Library at Saunton Beach
Small donations, big smiles. And kinder to the planet too. 💙🪣

☀️ What a weekend at Braunton Repair Cafe! We soaked up the sunshine outside and our dedicated fixers worked away. Festival vibes, tea, and a whole lot of fixing.
Because every repair is a small act of resistance. Against throwaway culture. Against waste. Against the idea that when something breaks, it’s done. 17 items that could have ended up in landfill are back in use – and that adds up. 🌍
Nine brilliant volunteers gave their all so visitors could leave with items rescued from landfill. Bikes, electrics, textiles, bunnies, umbrellas... and some properly glowed-up festival tees. Thank you to every volunteer who goes above and beyond, every single time. 🧵🔧☕
Our May Repairs are part of the BIG FIX and all data will be sent to @recycle.devon . Watch out for more from the BIG FIX near you.
Thank you to Kim from Barnstaple Outcasts, Debbie from @oxfam_barnstaple and Nigel from @northdevonhospice for the donations of t-shirts. 🙏

He closed his eyes.
Around him, the woodland hummed. Birdsong, rustling leaves, something skittering in the undergrowth. Then he picked up his pencil and started to draw what he could hear.
That moment, completely still, completely present, was why we started Ocean Explorers Academy.
We recently welcomed our first young explorers of the summer term (from Ilfracombe Academy). We spent the morning amongst the trees: listening with our eyes shut, hunting for magic through loupe lenses (bark is extraordinary up close, by the way), and taking photographs of a miniature (or is it giant…) world using little wooden figures.
The big question we kept coming back to: how do you feel when you’re in nature?
Before they left, each Explorer took home a wooden figure to decorate. It could be them. It could be someone they love. It could be David Attenborough. The challenge? Carry it with you. Notice things. Take photos. Be present.
Because nature isn’t somewhere you go. It’s everywhere, if you look.
ℹ️ If you think your school would benefit from our Ocean Explorers Academy, please get in touch.
