Dylan Law is a 20-year-old from Hackney who’s pissed off with his local council – and now he’s running to change it.
On 7 May, @dylanmlaw is standing as a Green party candidate in the Hackney Downs ward. He's also struck a deal with Hackney mayoral candidate Zoë Garbett that if she’s elected, she’ll appoint him her deputy.
At the launch of the Greens’ local election campaign on Thursday, Dylan spoke to @rivkahbrown about the Labour party’s escalating attacks on the Greens.
What if the answer to Britain’s busted policies was a working class teenager from Hackney, East London? That’s Dylan Law, the Deputy Mayoral Candidate for Hackney, representing the democratic socialist Green Party.
As the political group gains traction, outpacing the country’s former leaders, the Conservative Party, in the polls, writer @jasebyjason meets Law to discuss his beginnings, his plans for change, and why voices like his matter now more than ever.

Yesterday’s historic results in Hackney would never have been possible without the incredible hard work of hundreds of volunteers, our dedicated campaign organisers and our slate of brilliant councillor candidates who have been putting in the work in their communities. THANK YOU 💚
We look forward to running a Green council that keeps the spirit of community, participation and people-powered democracy at its heart. We will always stand for this.
See you on Monday, time to get to work! ✊
Sooooo THAT just happened 🤯
We went into this election with 4 Green Councillors, today we wake up to a Green Mayor of Hackney and 40 (yes, 40!!) Green Councillors.
Hackney residents have rejected the old political way and have voted for a better future - one with people-powered democracy at its heart.
Thank you for trusting us, we are proud to represent you and will work hard to fix what’s broken, get the basics right and make Hackney a place you can afford to stay.
