Yesterday, Pulitzer Prize-winning composer
@duyun and celebrated librettist
@rvavrek visited the Martin Harris Centre at
@officialuom to discuss their groundbreaking opera Angel’s Bone with Music students. 🎶
This talk was an opportunity for our students to hear directly from the creators about the themes, creative process, and musical world of Angel’s Bone, as well as to gain insight into the
@englishnationalopera production, which showing in Manchester until tomorrow, 16 May.
We'd like to thank Du Yun and Royce Vavrek for their time, ENO for facilitating this student engagement opportunity and the
@uommusic for hosting and organising the talk.
Earlier this week, we celebrated the ENO-produced UK Premiere of Angel's Bone at
@factory_international . Angel’s Bone was awarded the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Music and tells the story of two battered angels, who fall into the garden of a couple whose marriage is collapsing. What begins as care becomes exploitation, creating a powerful and unsettling allegory of modern‑day slavery and human trafficking. The work is known for its bold fusion of chamber music, theatre, cabaret, electronica and punk.
