One of the earliest pieces I’ve ever learned to conduct!
I remember it was 2021, and our final exam was a weird “conducting the 1st movement in silence… from memory… on zoom…”. I finally got to do the “selig sind” bit with full force in the room, thanks to the unique opportunity of this joint seminar. What a journey!
I’m happy to share a clip from Friday night’s epic work Requiem of White Snow, conducted and composed by my dear friend @tom_pan07 . The poem vividly portrays the vastness and solitude of the Tang dynasty borderlands.
I’m grateful to Tom for inviting me to premiere this piece as soprano and flute soloist. Sharing Chinese culture through music is always a joy.
Thank you to the wonderful orchestra and choir for the beautiful collaboration.
Special thanks to the best videographer @mary_the_soprano
Been a long time! Back to working with that ChInEsE TuNiNg of Qudi but this time with the Columbia Chinese Orchestra. Reminds me of the old days when BCME (chamber Chinese music ensemble back then?) rehearses in a classroom
