@fpa_sydneycbd The Sydney Pen Meet was just too much fun! 🎉 The side quest at this meet was washi- and we shared and ooh-ed and aah-ed over pretty, foiled, colourful tapes. There were also plenty of incredible pens and collections …. Because apparently our pens need friends and if they come in pairs or trios or sets (ahhh), it would be rude not to give them all loving homes.
We had both of our local nibmeisters @alifeinreverie and @inkcisionworks there too.
This hobby is cool and the people in it are even cooler. I love that everyone comes as they are and share their joy without the need for pretence or embellishment 💜💚🖤🩶🩵💙💛🧡🩷🤎
Celebrating the good stuff and lamenting the silly bureaucratic work things ☕️
This week’s emotional regulation strategy was to create a new work notebook by combining an OG Hobonichi day free notebook with another half used OG TRP dot grid notebook.
Also pulled out this A5 Kikki-K felt cover- I bought it when I started my psych internship in 2011. It’s done hospital, inpatient, emergency, research, clinic, and even correctional unit rounds with me. Feeling energised for work tasks now 🤩🤓
Dumplings, green tea noodles, homemade sambal 🌶️ (chilli jam), garden prep and harvest, puff pastry from scratch, turmeric and ginger cookies with goji berries… 😋

Coffee dates and coastal walks this weekend 🥰 ☕️…
And a quiet evening of mahjong (I know, it does sound like a contradiction) with some friends tonight 🀄️ #プロッター #プロッターミニ6 #システム手帳 #cafejournal #手帳
Coffee date(s) with my loved ones after a very silly work week. Good coffee for the humans. And yes, I’m one of those dog mums who packs gourmet snacks for their fur babies.
One of our favourite coffee places …. 🤤 The family owned cafe grow their own herbs and pickle and ferment many yummy things

So I’ve (finally?) broken my 11-mth no pen buy streak. I wanted to be more intentional with my collection and over the months have sold a few that I haven’t been reaching for. I love those that remain in my collection.
This special new-to-me pen is a Montblanc Le Petit Prince Classique in EF that was ground to a Japanese EF by nibmiestress Anabelle when she was at Appelboom. It’s STUNNING. I bought it off a fellow pen friend locally who made an offer that I couldn’t refuse.
The gold nib has an engraving of the Little Prince tending and caring for his planet. The clip features a little gold star. And engraved on the cap, “On ne voit bien qu’avec le coeur”; “You can only see clearly with the heart.” 🥰
I loved the pen when it was released in 2019/2020 but could not justify or afford it first hand then. The colour, the grind, the details on the nib and clip all speak out to me.
The theme of this story is aligned with my research and clinical interests on children, childhood, adversity, and imagination. Though sadly, also aligned with the current political climate of war, loss, and hope for peace 💛
This feels like a forever pen!❤️🍒

My research team leader (Prof) asked to borrow some of my fountain pens and wanted to try TRP 😜I brought some paper samples (Cotton MD and old TRP) for Prof, as well these two trustworthy workhorses. The mini TWSBI has an architect grind- Prof was also asking about various grinds last week (oh the rabbit holes 🐰!!!). Can’t wait to see their face when they try these 🤣
*Update: Prof showed unadulterated joy and will be borrowing said pens. Mission #penabled accomplished. And apparently they’ve been telling colleagues that I (the new hire) am “cool” 😂. Surely this means I'll pass my probation 🙊
Scribbles over coffee ☕️
I’ve been repurposing old, partially used A6 TRP notebooks as my coffee scribble notebooks. I loved @thelingerco ’s idea of a coffee book and borrowed her coffee stamp for the first part of the notebook!
The second part of the notebook is a new fun little activity. Earlier in my career, my supervisor and I (psychologically) profiled young offenders- understanding what made them tick, how past life history might predict their future behaviours-for the purpose reducing the risk of future offending via social supports and therapeutic intervention.
I’ve been using the same observational skills whilst I people-watch at cafes. Then I jot down little fictional notes or scenarios inspired by the humans (and little humans and doggies) I spot whilst waiting for my coffee. Most names are fictional / made up.
The practice is bit like narrative therapy and creative writing, I guess; the premise of this therapy is to get the therapy client to rewrite the ending for what might have been a negative event/ memory. Except in this exercise, I do this for fun and always imagine the good and positives in whoever I’m observing.
