Local ambient supergroup 𝒅𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒚 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆 return on support for NYC's 𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒌. The naarm trio of Joseph Buchan (Other Joe), Jim Sellars (Yunzero), Jordan Obarzanek (Body Clock / Cloud Ice 9) are masters of the phase transition -- sublimating acoustic instrumentation into hazy, liquid hypnagogia; transmuting formless sonics into dramatic, felt moments for listeners.
𝒅𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒚 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆's music, released on iconic local imprints Absorb and Altered States Tapes, foregrounds spatiality and dynamics. They etch contrasting timbres hewn of drum machines, synths, oboe, sax, voice, guitar, and bass onto a gauze-y palette of textural drone, performing in flowing, improvised stanzas that quickly pull listeners into states of hypnosis.
The trio communicates clear feelings and vivid ideas with an abstract palette - pulling you through unsettling currents of wind, surrounding you in a buoyant fog, a processed oboe cutting through the mix like the sun breaking through the clouds.
A genuine world class group that we are blessed to have debut at Misc's own 𝐌𝐞𝐳𝐳𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐞 in a few short weeks. Low-key a battle of the ambient boy bands with the two trios on the same lineup. Dream show for us and a dreamy show for you.
Tickets are flying with 25% gone at release and on track towards a sell out. Come early for ambient chess club on the roof and stay late for a dance with 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒎𝒆𝒈 and 𝑽𝒆𝒏𝒖𝒔 𝑭𝒍𝒚𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒑.

Today @dummy__tree ’s second release “i can’t see anything from my eyes again” is born 🪺
If their first release earlier this year on @_absorb__ was Bart, this one is undoubtedly its twisted long lost attic-bound brother, Hugo🐟. The dark live take from their @makeitupclub set consists of the trio’s broken guitar pedals audibly crapping out, gulping for air between clarinet wailing & Joe’s erratic screaming echoing sporadically throughout, sound good? No? Yes!!…? 🤔 🐡🐡🐡
