Yesterday, I led an interactive workshop with students that included a brief Q&A, where we had some real conversation around art, process, and possibility. I even showed them our @boom_concepts @googleartsculture profile. I also tapped into my No Fly Zone paper airplane project and we all made paper airplanes together To close, I invited students to 1v1 encouraging them to ask direct questions about my artwork and practice before raining buckets down on the youth. We wrapped with a little two-hand tag football. That sports session was about showing that you don’t have to choose between your interests. You can move between sports and the arts, and bring that same energy, focus, and creativity to both. Many thanks to Miss Amanda and @bgcwpa for inviting me to my old middle school - Milliones to talk with the kids as part of @naeyc Week Of The Young Child “Artsy Thursday”.

Soft reminder: don’t sleep on the neighbor lady… she might just cross you up 🏀 Grateful to @reneel10 for trusting @boom_concepts with her official Vincentian Academy Lady Royals gear + medals from her time as both player and coach. Go check out her artifacts and more now it on display @emeraldcity_pgh . The Vincentian Academy Girls Basketball team, formerly based in Pittsburgh, PA, was a highly successful WPIAL program with 11 championships between 1996 and 2018. Known as the Lady Royals, they won multiple PIAA State titles (2002, 2014) and competed in the Class 2A division before the school’s closure.

When we were building the roster for Sweat and Sacrifice, I kept thinking about artists who exist in a space of innovation, creativity, endurance, and expression all in one. @mkrmvz is one of the few people who hits all of those things - asking him to join the show was easy. Super athletic. Super artsy. Super legendary. He was nice enough to lend us his stuff that has kicked and pushed all over the world. I met Bill maybe ten years ago while he was working on a BIG project and was totally into his work and his way of getting down. (not to mention I grew up watching X Games, picking Bucky Lasek on THPS, and had a brief phase of terribly trying my best to skateboard and rollerblade around the HI Double) Be sure to check out the @boom_concepts exhibition down @emeraldcity_pgh !
