Another signal:noise event Feb 19 at @flybynightknox . We'll have some new toys and a whole extra physicist.
---
signal:noise is an experimental electronic music collective of physicists, bringing the study of the natural world to the dance floor. DJ sets from Science & Reason and Oskar, with physics-driven visuals from ColliderScope.
Science & Reason is a project of Prof. Steven Johnston (UTK) that began in 2002 as a DJ duo based in Toronto, blending sounds from progressive house, breakbeats, and techno, with music releases and remixes on labels like ICONYC, 3rd Avenue, Dynamica, Massive Harmony, and Morphosis.
ColliderScope is the project of Prof. Lawrence Lee (UTK) blending music with math and particle physics. He has performed at venues across the world including Roskilde Festival (Denmark), Pohoda Festival (Slovakia), and from the CERN Control Centre (Switzerland).
Dr. Oskar Hartbrich (ORNL) is a particle physicist who started DJing in 2013 with the Purple Room collective in Oahu, Hawaii. He has since performed around the world, from Honolulu to Tokyo to his hometown of Wuppertal.
