A commissioned mural for the living room of a small house in Joshua Tree. The idea was to paint the surroundings of the house inside, and on the last morning as I made the finishing touches, I accidentally caught the spectacular dawn light splashing across the painting.

I was going to make it boxy for storing books, but when I thought about how it was going to fit into the space I decided instead to let it have some breathing room around it.
