Introducing the newest printing press in our studio, a 1968 Vandercook SP-15! This press has travelled the world, from its birthplace in Chicago to South Africa, Switzerland, New York and now East Tennessee! We can’t wait to start using it! After an incredible 20-year journey, I’m writing to share some bittersweet news: The Arm will be closing its brick-and-mortar letterpress studio at the end of June.
Over the years, it’s been a privilege to work with you and so many inspiring groups, and I’d love to offer one last opportunity to come into the shop and create something together. Booking a final workshop not only lets us celebrate the tradition of hands-on printing one more time—it also directly supports The Arm’s next chapter.
While we’re closing the physical studio, The Arm will be working to connect in new ways. We’re still available for on-site printing at events, and our collection of art prints will continue to grow at .
Thank you for being a part of this community. I hope to see you in the studio one last time.

Hands-on-Workshop: Print a Poster at The Arm
Get your hands inky and print your own bold, wood type poster at The Arm!
Ever wanted to roll ink and pull prints like a pro? Now’s your chance. Join us for a hands-on letterpress workshop at The Arm and create your own edition of wood type posters using their 1960's Vandercook cylinder presses and extensive collection of antique wood type.
You’ll start with a selection of block-printed color gradient backgrounds and flats, then set your type and print up to 20 sheets of your own design. Each participant will leave with a stack of finished, wrapped 12x18 inch prints—ready to gift, frame, or swap.
_No prior printing experience needed—just bring your ideas.
_Group size is limited to ten, so you’ll get plenty of press time.
_Keep it short & bold—we recommend around a dozen words for the best results.
This is a rare opportunity to work with expert printers in a collaborative, creative space. Don’t miss out!

A rebuilt press in print-ready condition. Runs 220 or 115VAC with included power module. .928 bed, .040 cylinder undercut.
Suitable for US type height with .010 stainless steel bed plate (included) and European didot height type with the plate removed, this press has seen very limited use from new.
Grippers have been disassembled, inspected and rebuilt. Includes new rubber form rollers, New automatic washup blade, tympan, tools and a manual.
