David and I wrote this song after a long conversation about how hard everything seems to be these days. But ended up bonding over the fact that we are both secretly (or not so secretly anymore!) optimist. We both truly believe that things are going to work out, because they always have to and they always have. Even when it doesn’t feel like it, things will get better.

Singer-songwriter and musician David Ryan Harris has joined Spirit Music as VP, A&R and as a songwriter and JV partner with his company Peace Pourage, Inc.
In aligning with Spirit Music in his new position and creative collaboration, Harris brings nearly four decades of experience to mentor and nurture future generations of fellow creatives. Harris first rose to fame as frontman for the seminal Atlanta rock band, Follow For Now in the late 1980s, and later struck out on his own as a solo act while working with artists across genres. He’s written and produced for Hootie & The Blowfish, Christina Perri, Zayn from One Direction, Natasha Bedingfield, and others.

We had a good thing.
This could very well be 2 posts: One for the shows I played this past weekend at Hotel Cafe and the second for all the other shows I’ve play there over the last 23 years, but I’ll circle back later for the distant recollection.
I had a transcendently good time at @thehotelcafe this weekend: I played a bunch of new songs and old faves solo acoustic on Friday, then on Saturday I took the stage with 9 of the most beautiful souls you’ll ever hear. I’m always moved deeply to have musicians take the time to learn my songs in such a way that they’re able to bring their heart and perspective and really live inside the music. This band moved me. Emotionally and LITERALLY. I knew as it was happening that the band and I were having fun onstage, but it wasn’t until I started seeing live clips of the performance that I realized it wasn’t just happiness. It was joy. Pure JOY.
I was facing the audience and dancing for most of the night, so I didn’t see how much they guys were smiling and laughing and egging each other on the entire time behind me. I’m filled with both humility and gratitude to know that I was the center of something so wonderfully childlike and blissful. @swattykins@imcharlesjones@ryanlerman@arielposen@terencefclark@seanehurley@heyitsmariojose@rachelgonzz & @damonmgrant thank you for making Saturday special. It felt like souls were moved in that room. For 90 minutes, this crazy world melted away and once again @thehotelcafe was a sanctuary. Thank you Dan, Gia, Joel and the best bartenders/staff in the game. I didn’t play THE last show.
