Abraham; Jacob, durante la gira latinoamericana de Tool, estuviste en Chile, en Lollapalooza Chile y en el Movistar Arena. Cuéntanos sobre tu experiencia.
Jacob: fue un espectáculo mágico para mí. Cada vez que veo a Tool es increíble, pero Movistar Arena fue único. Me emocioné muchísimo cuando vi a Danny pasar junto a mí entre bastidores con la nueva indumentaria que elaboramos.
Era la primera vez que lo veía con ese traje. Para mí, la magia ya estaba sucediendo y la banda ni siquiera había subido al escenario. La acústica del recinto es fantástica. El sonido parecía perfectamente equilibrado en todo el recinto. Las visuales de Tool parecían reflejar e interactuar con la arquitectura del techo como si la estructura hubiera sido diseñada específicamente para ellos. La actuación de la banda fue increíble.
Abraham: Diseñaste el vestuario de Danny Carey, algunos de los cuales se inspiraron en el arte “Psychic Energy” de Alex Grey,
Jacob: Los trajes de Danny son realmente increíbles y únicos. Nos esforzamos mucho para que se ajustaran bien y se fueran atractivos con los conceptos de diseño que Danny solicitaba. No se trata de fotorrealismo ni hiperrealismo; es más bien un realismo estilizado. Para el traje de chakras, la principal petición de Danny fueron los chakras… Quería incorporar una anatomía sutil y líneas meridianas de energía y sanación. Soy fan de @alexgreycosm desde antes de que trabajara con Tool. Es un maestro. Su influencia en la cultura artística y en mí es profunda.
Abraham: ¿El simbolismo de la serpiente en la indumentaria de calavera proviene del ocultismo o de alguna otra influencia en particular?
Jacob: Las serpientes entrelazadas estilo caduceo fueron una petición de Danny. Las serpientes tienen mucho simbolismo en la literatura y las bellas artes.
