Hello Some news! I’m properly launching a new(ish) alias ‘ópax’ today with a self-released track called ‘scál’ an old Irish word for a supernatural being meaning giant or hero ⭐️ The track itself was originally written in 2022 and went through several rebirths with the name and structure - it tends to take me a while to get things over the line and realised so it feels good to finally share it with you all. The name ópax stems from the Irish preposition ó (from) and the latin word for peace (pax). Ty to @max_filesize for help on the mix @opherings for the cover ☘️🤌🩵 Bandcamp & Soundcloud linkinbio.. FLD021 ‘Traditions are never static; they are reiterated, redigested and recast’ Truly an honour to announce that Ian Nyquist’s forthcoming LP ‘Gilded’ will be released through Flood this September ‘The beating heart around which ‘Gilded’ is woven is the bodhrán, a native Irish frame drum with which Nyquist uses innovative techniques to push the instrument beyond its ordinary confines. Mirroring the instrument’s sound through modelling software, the album’s title itself nods to a theme of transformation, suggesting something familiar burnished to a new brilliance, giving it new life. Shepherding us into the night is Irish club luminary @doubt_fld . We are thrilled for his return to Dublin! Ordered chaos, driving percussion & a firm belief in the collective potentiality of ‘the club’ are key to Doubt’s approach to building his sets. Fuelling the floor is his objective. Balancing between subtlety and the anthemic, he weaves in and out of haunting builds and forceful releases. His productions echo this ethos - drum laden fodder for the murky early hours inspired by disparate corners of club music.
