BAR SHORTS PRESENTS 40 YEARS OF INNOVATION IN SHORT FORM ANIMATION
Bar Shorts is a curated series of events aimed at bringing high-quality short films and animations to a wider audience in a social, relaxed environment. The events are curated by David Anderson from the Dog & Rabbit animation studio and hosted by award-winning filmmaker Chris Shepherd. Nights feature Q&As with guest animators, retrospectives of cult series like Dog Judo, and themed collections like “Intimate Animation”. The evening aims to mix the traditional with the experimental. Flang Vs Darwin was a winner at @wrap_film_festival we are proud to tell you. It stars our very own Flang, and the very real Charles Darwin. We’ll put the full thing up here reasonably soon. Hurrah!
Our very own Professor Robert and our (also very own) Vincent Van Gogh had the great honour of judging the Late Night Bizarre award at the Barbican last night, for the culmination of this year’s brilliant @liafanimation London International Animation Festival.
Much respect to @kateco___ and her Cowgirlies for coming first, with a very honorable mention for @moonjam3d and his Ducks. And of course, thank you to Nag Vladermersky for making the whole thing happen so slickly.

21 years ago and 120 episodes ago we started making Dog Judo. And to celebrate, Bar Shorts is putting on a birthday screening and Q&A with the actual fictional dogs and their creators, at The Garden Cinema, Covent Garden - August 28th. Hosted by our own Vincent Van Gogh, with live action hosting help from @wondermasher A couple of tickets remain on the @thegardencinema website.

This shows a few of the processes involved in animating this particular cover. It hints at them anyway… used a computer, added video of splashes, made a 3D bike and a 3D Gallagher. Photoshop was involved. Added appropriate textures and blurs. And enjoyed doing it all. You don’t often get to work on jobs as nice as this. For @radiox and @oasis

You can’t really see that this cover is moving in the main film so we’ve given it its own stage. We took the cover art and cut all the individual bits out and made them 3D and added video and textures and all that lot. (Not the most detailed ‘behind the scenes’ post.) A lovely thing to work on.
