Her recent interest has primarily been in performing 20th century and contemporary musical compositions for piano as well as for koto (Japanese 13-string zither), and free-improvisation in various different contexts. @kanoko.nishi Danishta Rivero is an improviser, performer, and sound artist based in Oakland, California. She explores the artifacts resulting from heavy processing of the voice and their relationship to its acoustic resonance. @dnishhh Jordan Blankenship is an experimental sound artist from Modesto, California. His work examines the kinetic relationship between sound and gesture through extended techniques, prepared instruments, and improvised performance. @jordanblankenship K Francis Messer is a bay area-based percussionist and electro-acoustic noisemaker. performances emphasize suspension and consequence with analog feedback, prepared drums, salvaged objects, and sonic interference. sounds move in fractures and flares, embracing points of collision. @chlorinearoma Kaitlin McSweeney is a performer and composer based in Oakland, Ca. She improvises with live-looped vocals, cello, feedback, signal and environmental noise. Her recent work explores eroticism in noise through a body-centered invitation of tension and release, tearing apart and bringing together. @captainmcsweeney Domi Nigro is a performance artist and dancer of varied vocabulary based in Oakland, Ca. Inspired by both the mundane and fantastical, their art aims to explore the merging paradigms of these worlds by delving into highly emotional feeling states, improvisation, and technical movement forms. @earthenergy Thank you to @deadnoisestation and @antonio_californio !

Raw, unfiltered, and impossible to pin down, Las Sucias carve out a sound that lives somewhere between noise, ritual, and rupture. Their performances aren’t just sets, they’re confrontations, transformations, and a reminder of why we build spaces like this in the first place. Las Sucias is a duo formed by Danishta Rivero and Alexandra Buschman, mixing anti-patriarchal riotgrrrl lyrics, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, brujería noise and possessed vocals. Each performance is a ritual that combines all of the senses and elevates into a higher realm, inspiring the listener to dance, speak in tongues, laugh hysterically, and get possessed by the spirits awoken.

Coming up June 13 at @thecrownoak 2x3: three experimental duos! Sarah Grace Graves is a singer and composer working where recital meets ritual. In addition to her work as a singer, composer, and improviser, Sarah Grace is also active as a liturgical singer. Her solo album Three Names is out now on Elektramusic. Tasya Abbot is a multimedia artist, musician, and material scholar based in berkeley, california. She uses her voice and various other tools to conduct spatial mapping experiments in sound and string. Voicehandler plays intuitive, incantatory music grounded in the most primitive and somatic instruments — the voice and percussion — juxtaposed with contemporary, disembodied electronics. The performance is loose and exploratory, at various times energetic and meditative. Kevin Corcoran and Derek Monypeny are currently touring as a duo playing experimental deep desert drone, with a new collaborative album ‘Abacomancy” due out June 7 on 2182 Recording Co.
