Marauders Episode 1: DJ Scribe. The Recap. A New Yorker, DJ Scribe has held down the floor at Brooklyn Museum, Lincoln Center, and Joe’s Pub. 150,000 records deep, he’s not just a DJ, he’s a de facto archivist. The kind who knows the difference between a record that belongs in a collection and one that belongs in a room. His crates run deep: soul, funk, jazz, hip-hop, gospel, disco, Latin, afrobeat, not as genres, but as conversations. Each record is chosen not for how rare it is, but for what it does to a room. He came to Cameo and pulled a few of his most cherished. Here’s what made the cut. Gato Barbieri - Yesterdays Ramsey Lewis - Maiden Voyage Herbie Hancock - Sunlight Marauders gives selectors the floor they deserve so the room gets to be privy to an intimate story. If you weren’t there, we are back this Saturday when Bo’mbaja takes over Bar Cameo.

Performances at Everything Un... We open with a special Vinyl set by DJ Scribe 🗓️ 10th February | 8.30 pm 📍 Forplay Society DJ Scribe will play an all-vinyl set that culminates in a dance party. The set will feature selections culled from his 15,000+ records gathered over 35 years of collecting which may include jazz, soul, funk, gospel, hip-hop, disco, afrobeat, salsa and house. His practice is rooted in the two foundational lineages of New York City DJ culture: hip-hop and underground dance, which both emerge from the African American community, and in the case of underground dance, the Queer African American community. Scribe’s approach centers community, healing, alchemy, transcendence, and joy, activated through music, sound, and dancing. Big thanks to @lobocopbombay for helping with the sound/tech

07.02 || saturday || 🍒 strangr selector this saturday, our vv home hosts @djscribe for his last stop in delhi, on his india tour. w over 35 years of deejaying, producing and record digging (an astounding 15k records), ben plays his vinyls like old-time friends. pop over for deep cuts, reggae, afro and soul & a masterclass in which he gives every track a distinct spotlight. . . . . ^ strangr is a safe space & we request you to both hold that truth & participate in making us a safe space. ^ do remember we don’t take ressies, so come early & stay late. ^ if you are holding space for friends, we strongly request 85% of your party arrives w/n 15 mins. otherwise & especially during heavy hours, we will have to give that space up for other guests. ^ our Vasant Vihar space is small, and we do have to shut entry at capacity. ^ thank you for understanding & your love. 5, Basant Lok Market, Vasant Vihar (next door to greenr cafe, enter from the gully behind

From the first crackle of the needle to the final fade-out, Friday was pure analog magic. DJ Scribe took us on an all-vinyl journey through hip-hop, soul, funk, and jazz, weaving stories into the wax as the night unfolded. A masterclass in rhythm and history that’s going straight into the books

Last Club Friday at Middle Room, DJ Scribe took us on a journey through decades of sound. Between grooves and stories, we danced, learned a bit about vinyl, and let the music do the talking. A true New York native and lifelong digger, Scribe’s set flowed through hip-hop, soul, funk, jazz, and disco, reading the room perfectly and letting every record breathe.
