@earthdogrec label bosses @djfix_ & @jek.media present the imprint’s 12th release, “unknown species.” The A-side highlights the duo’s signature bass-driven, swampy tech steeze. “unknow species” snakes listeners deep into tech-house hypnosis, driven by neck-snapping, pitch-bent basslines, spiraling vocal chops, and crunchy, looping percussion. Reinforcing the release, @konduku delivers a deep techno reinterpretation of the title track, pushing it into a hypnotic sweet spot with time-stretched, rippling textures and subtle yet hard-hitting percussion. On the flip side, “earth dub 2” and “datura” take a stranger turn - perfect for the deepest, darkest hours of the night or a sprawling, smoke-filled sunrise. Born from years spent navigating dancefloors, labels, and DIY scenes, Earth Dog is the musical and visual project founded by Jek (Jack Anderson) and djfix (Ethan Donovan). After shaping their craft through independent label work, mix series, and extended raves across the Pacific Northwest, the duo has distilled a sound that feels both familiar and futuristic: early West Coast tech house, progressive trance, and organic psychedelia designed for powerful sound systems and open-air dancefloors. djfix is a Brooklyn-based DJ, producer, and co-founder of Earth Dog Records. His sound blends swung hi-hats, gritty grooves, and lush pads, crafting tracks that are both textural and built for the dancefloor. He has released four records on Earth Dog, including Seed Cycle (2024), a breakthrough project widely echoed across the 2025 festival circuit. His collaborations with Jek - including their first live performance in 2025 — mark a new chapter in Earth Dog's evolving direction.
