It’s your last chance to visit this Los Angeles museum before it closes for two years! 😮 This is the La Brea Tar Pits Museum, and it’s actually one of the world’s most active fossil dig sites where natural asphalt has been trapping animals for over 50,000 years. 🦣 The bubbling tar pits you see today are the exact same ones from the Ice Age and more than 3 million fossils have been discovered here. 🧊 One of the unique things about this museum is that excavation is still ongoing, so you can actually watch paleontologists working in real time. ⛏️
Explore the museum to see what they’ve found, from extinct mammals to giant sloths, bison, birds, and even saber-toothed tigers. 🐅 When you step outside, you can see and smell real tar still bubbling up from the ground. 🥾 It’s literally a prehistoric time capsule in the middle of a city park! 🌳 Be sure to visit before July 7, when they’ll close for a two-year renovation before the 2028 L.A.
