Alongside vast landscapes and impressive locations delivered in 1,800 final pixel shots using virtual production, Dimension also rolled out an innovative volumetric crowd workflow to fill the virtual stadiums. As Roland Emmerich explains in our film, there was an air of authenticity that was needed for the show and that’s what our team strived to deliver.
The virtual production shoot took place at the legendary Cinecitta Studios in Romem where studio T18 features a 24-metre revolving stage and an 8-metre tall, 51-metre U-shaped LED volume. This is the largest permanent Virtual Production Stage in continental Europe and the show required much of this to be in focus at the same time - a technical challenge that our virtual production team met with an impressive solution.

We volumetrically captured 76 actors in full costume over a two-day shoot on our mobile volumetric capture studio in partnership with @mrmoco1 . The result was over 100,000 frames of data that preserved the exquisite and beautifully detailed costumes.

On The Wrecking Crew, Dimension stepped in to deliver an action-packed postvis sequence for an intense highway chase, and delivered multiple previs sequences at speed.
In this near 1:1 postvis match to the final, a Chrysler Pacifica is chased by motorbikes and a helicopter on a Honolulu highway, packed with explosions, gunfire, and crashes. Dimension’s team helped maintain the continuity and believability of this high-octane chase sequence with intricate choreography across vehicles, camera, and environment.
The Amazon MGM Studios action-adventure, directed by Angel Manuel Soto and starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista is now streaming on Prime Video 👊 🌴

A brand new time-travelling installation devoted to David Bowie has opened at the Lightroom.
Co-directed by Mark Grimmer and Tom Wexler, it marks Journey's fifth production for Lightroom and its first devoted to music.
‘You’re Not Alone’ is an intimate immersive experience that tells Bowie’s story through an ever-changing world of sound, film, and image. Developed in collaboration with the David Bowie Estate and drawing on thousands of hours of material from the David Bowie Archive, the project features landmark performances alongside rare and never-before-seen footage, photography, handwritten lyrics, and personal recordings, tracing Bowie’s work across his life.
