We were honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal (@theroyalfamily ) to The Old Department Store on the 3rd of March, as she visited to see first hand how a historic high street building has been reimagined as a vibrant social enterprise community hub.
During her time at The Old Department Store, Her Royal Highness:
- Toured the building and learned about the “High Street Reimagined” vision.
- Met with The Grace Network’s founders and leadership team.
- Met with civic and regional leaders, including the High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Mrs. Julie Kent; the Deputy Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, Mr. Mickey Morrissey and the Chief Executive of Cotswold District Council (@cotswolddc ), Ms Jane Portman.
- Spent time with team members across the site.
- Visited The Grace Network’s social enterprise businesses to see the circular economy in action, including @kidsstuffcirencester , @thelongtablecirencester , @thehomeremedycirencester and @thebikedropcirencester .
- Met members of the wider community, including resident and programme partners @differentkindstore and @remnantrevolution_
Empowered by The Grace Network, The Old Department Store is a living example of how high streets can become places of life, opportunity, and hope. The visit was truly an encouragement to the team within The Old Department Store and the wider community.

We’re very excited to share with you our first ever brand film! We wanted to share who we are and what we do in a quick one minute video (easier said than done) as we have so much to say and so many stories to tell.
Highlighted are just a few of our wonderful producers including @re.wrap@step_and_stone_lavosh@redemptionroasters
We would love to hear what you would like to see more of.. is it the stories of the producers? What goes into creating a social enterprise? The impact they have? Let us know in the comments! We enjoyed making this and would love to create more video content to tell our stories.

These tea towels support @theclinkcharity restaurants staffed by the prisoners as part of a successful rehabilitation programme.
